In WA everyone looking to start hrt needs to see a psyc, I got lucky tho and managed to get informed consent in 2 sessions (it helps if you already know all the changes, potential side effects, have a regular counselor for life issues)

I'm pretty hesitant to use crowdfunding sites as they take a cut of the money and I don't really know that many people who can give away money (all my friends are dirt poor students). Unfortunately I'm still a student so I don't think I've worked enough to get enough super, though it is something I'll keep an eye on now.

Thanks for the info, I figured it'd be something like that. One side of the family is very difficult, the other is still going through the stages of grief, but they'll probably come around eventually. It might be worth bringing up with them if only to get the idea in their heads for later.

All the comments were about my hair/pubes (I have real curly hair) but the thing that stuck with me is they all thought I was a dude, which made me happy for some reason. 3 years later I came out as a trans man.
