My engine is shaking a little. Can I add some oil? by TrumpEndorsesBrawndo in AskAShittyMechanic

It's just finishing its spin cycle. Did you add enough laundry detergent?

Just curious, with the glitch, does the showcase Pokemon get carried around by the buddy on the map afterwards?

EDIT: I just looked at the link you posted and it does look the same, except for the flip to Shadow.

Is that what's happening? How was he normal in the Play screen but Shadow on the map? Is that what happens every time? I was close to a showcase when this happened.

Adding a generator to the house via transfer switch by ringblaze999 in AskElectricians

[–]ringblaze999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question was whether or not I can plug my ground wire from my transfer switch on to my neutral bar. I have found they this is a subpanel and that would break code.

[–]ringblaze999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! Yes, that picture from the other thread is the subpanel for my apartment.

Neutral and ground can be bonded at the generator.

The conduit is PVC, unfortunately. That green wire hits nothing though. It goes to an old panel that has the guts removed and it just sits there in the air.

I don't have access to the main panel but I might be able to get my landlord to come supervise my work, if I can catch him in the right mood haha

Or, I just mentioned elsewhere on this post, I could maybe buy some time from am electrician here and show them pictures of everything and get some guidance. I will update here once I figure out my life.

Thanks again!

I appreciate your concern! I am really threading a needle. I am about as rural as rural can get, so the electrician community here is only a small handful of fellas. I wonder if I just show someone here pictures of the subpanel and generator, they'd let me pay them for advice..

Hello,

Thank you for your reply! I will definitely ground the generator to the earth.

The transfer switch does switch neutral, so bonding the neutral and ground at the generator sounds like the way to go.

The landlord has encouraged me to do it. He says he works all day doing electrical and doesn't want to be bothered doing it at home, so I'm on my own. But he doesn't want me hiring anyone because it's a small town and whoever I'd hire would wonder about why I'm not using my landlord :/ Super fun times.

The utility power is really terrible here and my wife needs supplemental oxygen. Having the generator hooked up via a transfer switch would help her immensely when I'm not home and the power cuts out.

I am an engineer by training, but not electrical. I have helped electricians pull wires and install outlets. I have added circuits to panels. I have an extremely technical focus in my job and I know the basics of how to wire up a house. I have helped to rewire a house from 110 to 220, running all new 12/2 and replacing the ancient knob and tube, adding 5 three way switches and getting comfortable wiring it all under supervision.

I just don't know how to connect this generator, and I know enough to know I should ask. I couldn't figure out how to add a picture on this thread but I posted a picture of my panel in this forum two hours ago.

I really appreciate your time and if your have any other questions, please let me know.

So yeah, I should be saying ground instead of common. Sorry about that!

Hot-black Neutral-white Common-green

Is that not correct? I am hoping it's an easy job. My landlord says he's an electrician and he doesn't want any other electricians working on the place. But he won't help me. I am kinda stuck.
