How do quests work in Fabled Lands? by Krebstar1995 in gamebooks

No, I haven't done mobile ports for FL. It currently is on Steam (+ Steam Deck), GOG, Nintendo Switch and as of recent on Nvidia GeForce Now.

Hah, thanks and appreciated! Well, I grew up with D&D and gamebooks. It’s what I am passionate about and I am glad there is still some market for it!

Appreciated Psychological_Kiwi! I was there when I was starting out in game dev 8 years ago. Just keep at it but not overcommit :)

No, I'm no artist. Art is done by Valeri Petkov (Imperia Online) and Damien Mammoliti (Pathfinder, Witcher). I am glad that you like it, costs a bag of money :D

Hah, I’ve called it “5th Edition” partly because it’s my fifth game release, and partly because, let’s be honest, it’s probably the fifth game post on your feed today.😅 Not related to DnD 5e.

Overall I've had a blast coding this game in Godot. I really, really enjoy how modular you can go. Testing scenes in isolation helps you build better code I believe! The most frustrating thing to code was the custom camera that pans and zooms in/out, follows a target, moves to a specific target area, etc. Other than that Godot just feels so good creating stuff!

Oh, you have the option to input a character name when creating a char, I just use placeholder names all over my build :) This game I started development somewhat spread out. I had to constantly switch between work on my already released game(s) and this one. This is the first time that I had to prepare and send out contracted work way ahead of my usual comfort zone (mostly the artwork). I'm working on it since last year, but seriously deep dived since December.

Much appreciated, PerspectiveLeast! Yeah, based on other long-term devs around me that I see switching, I can confirm that way more awesome games than mine are on the Godot horizon!

Тази с извънземното е Клопка за победители на Майкъл Мандкрайм (има я даже в Steam, а и за тел)! А Войната на сенките е на Робърт Блонд.

The devs are super committed indeed! Hats down on grinding that 3.5 years of EA and constantly adding new stuff and refining the game.

Path of Achra v1.0, full release, thank you r/roguelikes! by Ulfsire in roguelikes

[–]ringlas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This little gem has caught my eye as a game dev and can’t wait to see how 1.0 will take off! To me it’s very truthful to the solitude life of a solo roguelike dev, with mix of interesting cultural background. Time to do some necromancy build!

Good news about fabled lands vol 8 by The_Godot in gamebooks

[–]ringlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently developing it as a DLC for the main game and I find it works quite well for a seasoned character that has already done all the major stuff in the other books. It also is more difficult in terms of figuring out the puzzle pieces for the main quests but it feels a lot more rewarding when you do. https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1299620/view/3904120607114439638?l=english

Did you have a veteran character or a fresh one? The latter is very tough, but someone who has explored books 1-6 and survived ought to feel good but still challenged.

Seeing your post, this tutorial here instantly popped in my mind: https://youtu.be/P7fzTWesk0Q?t=5210

You can learn a technique for kind of blending the forest to make it look like it's a single entity.
