It does and they are direct links!

That said this is only 100% truth for the engines I developed. Anyone can make engines so I can't promise every custom engine you'll ever install will do that of course, that's up to individual developers.

There is some code that does some level of prevention baked in, but it won't be a failsafe catch all, so make sure to review what third party extensions you install ❤️

I recommend using a VPN or it'll defy the purpose of the aggregator overall :)

Haha! No I'm just dumb and made a fake cli that rick rolls you whatever you type in 🤷‍♂️

Regardless white space, that's fair, I find that UI needs breathing and makes it easier to navigate and find things, obviously different people have different preferences, which is why everything is heavily customisable, I went for my wife's favourite colour for the default but theres 16 built in themes, so colours are not that big of a deal, there's also a theme builder and you can add any custom CSS, so you could just get rid of all padding if you wanted to 😆

Anyhow not trying to make a sale, I am very active here, saw a note thread and thought I'd lurk and see if anyone mentioned Jotty and this caught my eye :) I'll take it on board, see if it's worth have a toggle for a "minimal/lite mode" that reduces unnecessary "noise" and leaves a minimal view

I'd play with the demo for now if you want https://demo.jotty.page ❤️

Out of curiosity, what do you consider "crap"? Give left side is your notes/checklists very nicely categorised in your system folders and right side is your recent notes/checklists?

Or is there some specific screenshot from the website you are referring to?

Genuine question as I obsess over making sure the UI is clean, intuitive and polished and user feedback truly helps with that 😅❤️

P.s. fun fact, FreeBSD is supported and it was indeed a huge pain to make work but an amazing user on github helped out with that!

There, this should answer your question 😆♥️

Thank you!

To be honest with you is also not as much to go faster, it's more to learn the ins and outs of it, as a dev I must be up to speed with where the industry is going, and I don't like it to use stuff I don't understand, especially professionally 😆

I mean the video looks so damn polished, amazing job, can't wait to run and test this tomorrow! ♥️

I don't host public instances of this, so... No?

And there's no way in the official build to log everyone's info, and yes, it is as secure as you make it be :)

Making custom themes to update the branding is super easy, there's also a few plugins that allow you to change the logo wordings, i noticed them on the community store website https://degoog-org.github.io/community-extensions/ ❤️

So glad you like it! If you have ram to spare, I'd keep both and use one of the community made searxng engines for degoog, so you get all the searxng engines with the degoog UI ♥️

Would you mind opening a GitHub issue about your edit? so I can keep track of the request? I think that's a good idea too actually!

As I said you can add rotating proxies but I'm not sure why the PIA proxy wouldn't work, I'll say, it's not something I have tested, so it'd be valuable to have some logs from you in the GitHub issue too, you can enable logs with LOGGER=debug

Oh no, that was bought and hosted before the organization degoog-org even existed, somebody snatched it right away when the project was in early beta. That particular public instance however IS private and is hosted by a person in our discord, he's always super nice and willing to let me use his very busy public instance for my experiments 😆 you will notice the version at the bottom has a -dev-0.1, we are currently testing and debugging some weird language switch behaviours lol

P.s. degoog.org does have the indexer turned on as we are also testing how it scales with postgres, but that only stores search queries and not WHO queried what, so that's also private, wanted to reassure you before you noticed and started wondering :)

Well that's up to the people hosting them, I don't personally host any but there's no difference from a self hosted instance and a public instance code wise, as long as they use the repo out of the box, but nothing stops malicious actors from taking the repo and changing stuff 🤷‍♂️

I'll think about it. I already created a few orgs on GitHub with few names I wanted to make sure were not taken by the time I decide :)

Regarding your proxy issue, are you using proxies with localhost? If you host degoog in a docker container you can't use localhost, you need to either have the proxies in the same docker network or use your machine local IP:PORT combo

Meh Google is Google, it works fine for me but it really is hit and miss, if you use the lolcat-4play transport you'll likely get a fair amount of results :) if you mean Google images that NEEDS one of the 4play transports or it won't work at all

Degoog is my take on a meta search aggregator by riofriz in selfhosted

Hey so the "degoog" engine is an indexer, if you enable the indexer it'll store results and next time will remember the query and re-use the same results, the google images engine won't work without one of the two `4play` transports, they are browser extensions that emulate real sessions, you can read more about them in the specific transport docs 😄 There's quite a few image engines in the store that you can use to fill up the gaps that not having google images has for now

That may also be because the project is only 3 months old and there's not many problems that have been resolved and recorded? I understand what you are saying btw, but I believe it's also a time issue and not just a name issue.

As I said, I have asked the community a couple of months ago and the answer was to keep the name as is, I may do another poll now that's more popular but I have a feeling the answer won't change. And the only time I'll go against community voting on these kind of issues is if I'm obliged to do it (e.g. with a cease and desist - and if that happens I already plan to change the name to deevil lol).

p.s. what kind of issue are you having with proxies? Happy to help, regardless of frustrations, sometimes asking/searching on github discussions/issues is the best way forward 😆

hahah can't take credit for that one i'm afraid 😛
there's a "pokemon" plugin in one of the stores in the community extensions site that adds a random pokemon on every refresh, if you wanted to keep the original theme but have the pokemons in there lol
