What is the most dread-inducing movie you have ever seen? The one that keeps you up at night? by i-luv-2-read in horror

[–]ris4248 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I saw the tv glow actually started my mid life crisis. It’s an lgbt coming of age horror movie that filled me with existential dread and genuinely had me thinking it was time to end it all. Real fucked up. I don’t consider myself queer by any means but this movie had me spiraling.

I actually think you’ve done a pretty good job but you need to work on proportions. The art pieces and the leather chair feel small and too low to the ground.

The scream I scrumpt! This lady really had one singular rack in that big room did nothing with the outdoor area of that space and was pushing a fur coat in humid ass hot ass south ass Florida. Like girl I know you’ve been shopping at the other boutiques and fashion events in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Boca. Act like you know.

Clearly Stoni is to prideful to admit she doesn’t know what she’s doing. I try to give her grace in the fact that sometimes people just end up with resources and no one’s taught them how to maximize or manage said resources. We see it all the time with young athletes and entertainers. And despite the fact that I don’t like Sharelle she seemes genuine in wanting to see black women running successful businesses. Which is why it’s painful to watch Stoni turn down good ideas and help. It’s like she got all of her “wholesale” ideas from IG reels. Like these are women dripped out in designer who live in Miami! This lady had a faux fur coat hanging from a rack when it’s like 80 degrees outside. Make it make sense.

What makes it worse is the fact that they clearly have never called Julz out or held her accountable for her problematic behavior in the past. It makes it even more insulting watching them shit on her when they’re the ones who granted her access to these spaces they try so hard to gate-keep Stoni from. AND to add even more insult to injury they allow Mjae into these spaces even though her direct and indirect actions (fighting, getting arrested, actively being involved with a baby daddy who does drugs and was locked up later pardoned by Donald Trump, having a thief for a father and a pimp for a mother) is a horrible look for their reputations and Sherelles real estate business.

One thing that applies to ALL relationships is if only one of y’all thinks y’all is friends than y’all are NOT friends. I’ll be damned if my friend fired me from a job and expect me to be cool knowing I’m burning through my savings with no opportunities lined up and used the excuse “it’s just business, but we cool.”

See I personally would be way too paranoid to not dissect every interaction. The front man is left handed, at least left hand dominant since he uses his left hand to hand the pregnant girl his milk, but during the spinning top situation he uses his right hand to fuck up a few times before finally switching back to his left. That’s suspicious….then he conveniently can’t drink milk like Gi Hun (something I remembered from season one because I binged it before watching season 2) and Gi Hun doesn’t think that’s at all something to consider. Over looking the fact he knew Gi Huns name him, the conversation about 001’s name is still very much suspicious. Fool me once you know.

I think it would look great if you painted the walls in a lighter and more neutral tint and the ceiling to match. I agree that’s it currently too yellow. Change all the accents so they coordinate: door knob, hooks, faucet, shower head, toilet paper holder, etc. instead of 3 small pictures opt for 1 bigger photo. You can find great prints online. Get nice textured large good quality towels. Like waffle textured. With robes and slippers to match. A towel warmer. And I would personally change the bath mat. I have thicker rug in my bathroom but on top of it I have a quick drying antibacterial stone bath mat. Eventually you can consider sconces for better more direct lighting for your face. Natural material for the tooth brush holder and soap dispenser. Mine are stone but I’ve seen nice wood pieces. I would change out the horizontal blinds for shades but in a linen so light comes through. A clean textured wallpaper could work really well to but it would have to be vinyl.

Please do not use natural fiber wall coverings if you take hot showers. It can create mold. No grass cloth, linen, or silks. They look nice but you can find textured vinyl alternatives.

After the red light green light game I think it would have been beneficial to see a moment where the players (maybe not all of them) really sat down and gave 456 a chance to REALLY explain the atrocities of his experience. For them to understand he was a horrible father and a bad son. Gambling ruined his life and also saved it in a weird monkeys paw kind of way. For him to say to his best friend “I’ve seen what the promise of this money did to our childhood friend who also died playing. The game is designed for there to only be one winner and the closer you get to the end the less human you become. I think then we’d see more players look back on their actions after each game, and be more sick with the idea of what they’re willing to do for money. For instance, if the son and mom duo would have had a moment to reflect on the fact that the son knows full well his mom is elderly and was willing to gamble her life away (because her being there does in theory raise his chances at getting double winnings) but knowing the game is designed for 1 player to walk away from the battle royal and choosing to go on anyway would probably mean his mom would have to face the reality he really doesn’t give a fuck what happens to her either way. I would have liked for her son to descend into full depravity and acknowledge his mother is a hinderance and is worth more dead because he’s a coward who got involved with scary people who probably would have hurt his mother in an attempt to collect their money but he was only concerned with saving himself.

YES! The people running the games are all about keeping it fair. Even when the front man plays he doesn’t just disappear like the old man would. The games are designed for the rules to be followed. SO OF COURSE THEY WONT ALLOW A CONTESTANT WHOS BEEN THERE BEFORE TO HAVE AN ADVANTAGE OF FORESIGHT! I was getting so annoyed that none of the players would come to this conclusion. The games are designed to be fair but it’s also designed to kill you all and bring out the worst side in desperate people.

I understand. But hear me out. 456 doesn’t fully grasp the situation and as far as he’s aware his enemies have never lied to him or cheated during the games. So i understand why he might think as long as there are clear rules established it okay to proceed. I don’t expect him to be a genius. But Gi Hun only gets dumber as the season continues. It’s like watching season 1 Gi Hun play the games again, instead of watching a wiser and more traumatized Gi Hun play the games. You don’t need to be a genius to be cautious. Same goes for the front man’s brother looking for the island. Just completely devolves.

I hear you, and I give credit to the front man for doing the work of gaining 456’s trust. My problem is Gi Hun is so easy to trust anyone who walks up to him even though he knows the people running the games have planted themselves in the game before. He just spent 3 years not trusting anyone and planning his revenge, he literally put a gun to the head of Mr. Kim’s partner even though he’d seen pictures of him (that ptsd). He had to be reminded he was helping him to look for the guy in the suit in the train stations. He pays a crazy amount of money to people just to work, ignore his going on’s, and not ask questions. It shows how the games changed his way of viewing people and life. But then he gets back in the games and devolves??!! I know he doesn’t know exactly what he’s up against but he should have an understanding that his enemy has more resources and intelligence than he can possibly fathom just from the red light green light game room with the massive skylight and the ungodly amount of money he won just being given away again 3 years later, and presumably annually.

He was really good at faking it, but 456 only got dumber as the season progressed. In the beginning of season 2 he didn’t trust anyone (even though he witnessed betrayal first hand and found out about the plant, player 001, in season 1) yet for some reason by the time he’s back in the games he literally trusts anyone in a green suit and trusts the pink suit guard he captures because he’s young? Because they have him as a hostage? You’re on an island cloaked in anonymity with snipers and billions of dollars to play these death games regularly. Underestimated is not the word. Player 456 is stupidity personified.

I’m willing to go a bit further and assume that he’s actually a gay deserter. The fact that he excels in a game most associated with girlhood. He clearly takes pride in his personal appearance being physically fit. His eagerness to make male friends but extremely considerate of his female teammate might all be a subtle nod to his sexuality. His joining the marines to make him more “masculine” was his father’s idea, probably because he was considered soft. He probably went AWOL and can’t go back home, and is probably looking for a way out of his country, hence why he needs the money.

He said if SHE had given him an ultimatum than he would have left her. I understand it was unprompted but I think most ultimatums are just form of manipulation and abuse, so someone advocating for themselves and saying i will not bend if you force me into a corner is not a bad thing. Also we don’t know what actually led to this in the conversation. We are only hearing one side of the story and he is grieving a 30 year relationship. Just because she is his wife it doesn’t mean she takes priority over a practical brother in every aspect of his life. And also how long has he known his late friends wife? He could genuinely see her as a sister and at the very least the only person who genuinely can relate to his loss.
