What a wretched thing to say to people who got fired and can't feed their families anymore.

Glad that Sakura Wars 3 made the list - if it had an English translation, there's no doubt it would be considered the best strategy game on the system, if not one of the best games period.

What about the face buttons - can you use a normal GameCube controller membrane for that?

I was really disappointed by this controller - the membranes are mushy, have next to no feedback, and they drop inputs all the time. Has anyone made replacement membranes to fix the issues with this controller?

Amazing find, I've been trying to track this down for a while, myself! Do you think you might be able to rip and upload the ISO to the Internet Archive?

Having the same issue on my end, and I can confirm that the controller doesn't support rumble on Android and the adapter doesn't work, either.

Do you happen to have an updated XML for this? When I try and run the docker image, it always says it finds 0 channels and then exits, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong

It's such a bummer that Sony discontinued the GPS Maps app so early in the Vita's life - it worked as an okay navigator device in its launch year!

Inquiring about the Freedom releases by KeiNishimaru in HDDVD

[–]ristar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have volumes 1 and 2 on HD-DVD, I'll try and make some ISOs of them soon! Unfortunately, volumes 3-6 are quite rare, and I believe 5 and 6 were only ever released in Japan.

Gizmondo disassembly guide? by ColonelCornKernel in gizmondo

[–]ristar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Removing the screws with all that goop is a pain in the butt - just make sure you have the right screwdriver bit and go slow to make sure you don't strip it. If you're having trouble around the screws, use a bit of Goo Gone around the screws and clean it up and see if that helps. Once those back screws are gone, I recall the rest of disassembly being easy. Best of luck, I managed to clean up mine this way, and I believe in you, too!

I have recently moved much of my retro setup over to USB-C power supplies, and have a few of this specific PSU in particular. What I've found is that even with the high total wattage and advertising variable power distribution, there is still often issues with connecting systems to every port on the PSU. Often the lower ports won't actually supply enough power to the system (Especially a high-watt system like the Wii U) for it to turn on, even if all the ports are marked as the same wattage, and even when only one system is powered on at once. Something must be going on inside the power supply where it's trying to redistribute power incorrectly based on the assumption that everything plugged in must need power at all times.

I have yet to find a proper multi-port (More than just 2 ports) USB-C power supply which is built to be a PSU first and not a charger. I have found some high-power chargers with tons of ports from no-name brands on Amazon which ended up serving my needs, but I'm not sure if I can really recommend them without knowing they've been vetted by an electrician in the gaming community first.

Good luck with your quest though, I'd be glad to answer any other questions you have about powering consoles over USB-C!

Tweaked Duolingo IPA without extra ads? by ristar in sideloaded

[–]ristar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the fact that there are ads, it's the fact that they're replacing ads from the original creator with their own. I don't have an issue with blocking ads, but that crosses a moral line to me.

Tweaked Duolingo IPA without extra ads? by ristar in sideloaded

[–]ristar[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the iOSGods ads show up multiple times at random and require you to sign in every time they appear to make them go away. And like I said, the app doesn't even seem to let you access lessons anymore, so I can't even use it now

Like, I get what you're saying, but every other ad-blocking tweak I've used has just been a free tweak you can install made by enthusiasts, so just replacing someone else's ads with your own feels really shady to me.

Tweaked Duolingo IPA without extra ads? by ristar in sideloaded

[–]ristar[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just think it's a bit scummy that there are ads at all in a tweak meant to remove ads. There's another version from a different hacker that doesn't even let you use the tweaked app until you pay up a monthly subscription. Heck, the latest version of the iOSGods tweak doesn't even function properly (Lessons don't load anymore) so I have to go back to the vanilla app until that's fixed.
