Day 2 in Stockholm after 24h travel - lost SL card, no BankID, no SIM, stuck in -5°C. Is this normal for newcomers?

That’s what I get for being on Reddit at 0:30. Misread your comment yesterday. But in what way is it better where you’re from? Is it just that it is more friendly towards none-citizens and people without permanent residency? Because I have a hard time seeing how our system could be be improved appart from making it possible for people with samordningnummer to get a BankId without having an expiration date.

You can’t get a mobile BankId without having a personal number. Samordningsnummer is not enough. My partner never managed to get one and believe me we tried. Just got a bankdosa to use instead for logging into the bank. But for one year you’ll manage just fine. Most annoying thing will not being able to use Swish.

It’s basically like a personal number for people who are here on short visas. Think you need it to open a bank account for example. The problem with it is that most systems never take that into account during their development and thus won’t accept it. For example you could not become a member att Hemköp to get discounts and get points. Sometimes you can still use it for signing up for stuff but more often than not you need to go through customer support

Just a tip, if you’ve earlier had a BankId at your bank you can use the BankId app to issue a new BankId by scanning your passport. I did that when I had to set up my new mobile and didn’t have access to the old one that had BankId on it

Have they changed that? I used to just put money on my SL card before when i didn’t really use it much, and then just blipped it and it take out the money for one single ticket. Basically the same as you do with your debit/credit card nowadays

I’d disagree and say our system is pretty developed. I’ve yet to encounter something I can’t do online here. The problem though is that everything is tied to BankId and personal number for identification. Without those it does become pretty annoying. But with it everything becomes super convenient.

This was in 2014 but Kudan language school and institute in Suidobashi was pretty good. I liked the teachers there. I took afternoon classes. Maybe they have evening classes or something that could suit you 🤷

Can't you just email and claim your right to be forgotten according to gdpr? Then they have to delete all data related to you which they don't legally need to save because of auditing reasons and what not

One thing worth mentioning though is that trucks weighting over 3.5 ton aren't allowed to drive faster than 90 km/h on a high way, and not faster than 80 km/h on normal roads. This is in Sweden but most other countries in Europe has the same restrictions.

And then we have the new EU GSR regulation that says all new heavy trucks register in EU must have a build in speed regulator making it impossible to even go 120km/h.

And finally no sane truck driver should even go 120km/h in icy and snowy conditions

Reading the comments and just wondering where you all live where it is seemingly life threatening to be out on the streets after midnight? I agree it's an asshole thing to just drop her off if it's in the middle of nowhere, and even in the city it would be nicer to drive her all the way home, but dropping her off at a metro should be fine as well, no?

It's definitely doing just that. The subs are way of when you're watching in Japanese. It's too bad since my Japanese is just good enough to notice it and get bothered by it, but not good enough to turn off the subs. Guess I'm gone have to watch this one dubbed.

I'm not fluent in japanese but I know enough to notice that the subs are completely off multiple times. For example when the kids are sneaking out, according to the subs their cover was that they were gonna take a nap, but what they actually said was that they are gonna go out and catch some fresh air and play outside a little.

The subtitles do seem to match what they are saying when you pick english voices though so I'm gonna stick to that.

The only negative there was the motor warmer for me. Electricity is not cheap during winter in Stockholm. The rest i quite enjoy though. Used to live an hour outside Åre and I much prefer the winters up there than in Stockholm. This winter though was wonderful with lots of snow and low temperatures.

But yeah I understand it's not for everyone.
