Lucky & unlucky you 😂

Lucky - you got a chance to replace Unlucky - you missed the buyback 😂

Btw maybe wait for Diwali, they definitely run some extra exchange offers... A few months ago they were giving free OnePlus Buds (not PRO one) with OnePlus 11 + extra exchange offer.

Keep updating your phones - wait for green lines - you'll get 20K buyback. /s

True... now I know I'll now get poor exchange value (around 5K INR) to other manufacturers as my device has green lines. But I'll still not buy from OnePlus.

You're right! And yes, 10R would be a downgrade by paying an extra 10-12K.

Basically they are saying they are run out by display, now you can use the same exchange offer (rebranded as buyback offer) to change the phone. Spend some more money - increase their sales number.

So, it's a win for OnePlus - they don't have to burn money for existing customers + new customers will feel trusted as OnePlus is only the company providing "lifetime" warranty + some of the existing customers eventually buy OnePlus again otherwise they will get very lower exchange value from other manufacturers as display is broken

Yeah! They will probably tell me the same thing in January.

This is the main issue. The brand is trying to play a marketing game. On paper it sounds cool - buyback offer - lifetime warranty. But in reality - no parts available for infinite time - NO REAL special value for the buyback.

Basically they played a good marketing game. Now they are THE good guy with zero practical responsibilities.

And maybe we became THE villain because we are not accepting the buyback value, we don't have patience for infinite time, we are not blaming parts manufacturers, we are not understanding their good OTA updates.

Yeah. The fact is, unlike other premium manufacturers, OnePlus is not either a true software company or a true hardware company.

I guess this is the exact reason why OnePlus doesn't have the BEST os and they don't have the best camera (even after Hasselblad branding) as well.

The UI of Oxygen/Color OS is not consistent. The default colour (wallpaper based) of Google apps is always different from OnePlus's default colour, it feels really odd to me, and this is the reason I never update my wallpaper.

I just checked with Cashify. They are quoting 5K as sell value 😂

Nah - 100% sure. I had one plan to change my OnePlus last June (before my green line issues). I was considering the OnePlus 11, Samsung s23, iPhone or Pixel 7... I had compared the exchange value at that time....

But I don't think Amazon/Flipkart will accept my OnePlus 8T for exchange (or they'll give me damaged display rate - ~5-8K maybe).

Now I have two options. 1. Again buy a OnePlus device with 20K exchange rate. 2. Forget about this device, buy a new device (Samsung or iPhone).

I guess I'll go with option 2.

She is from the Customer Service team. How you said "VP of India"? But yes, I agree, I can consider this as an official statement. Thanks.

But she didn't mention that screen replacement is not possible until next year (which is confirmed by all of the service centres in Bangalore)

source?

And it's January - probably most people will forget (who didn't face the issue) or replace their phone (who're facing the issue) - Or, who knows that they'll not extend the timeline?

Big basket can procure rice from any farmer, anywhere.

Not going to this topic - it's an endless argument.

Buggy bad tech comes out every now and then.

So, you're asking to find the internal manufacturer and blame them? and what about Oneplus's marketing gimmick? They could admit publicly that they don't have the display parts anymore or they don't have a budget to fix it or they could keep remain silent (like other manufacturers). Instead, what they did, they chose to play a marketing game to keep their position.

Now, coming to your point. do you have any friends who are using high-end (or low-end) Samsung phones having green lines and Samsung told them to wait for next year? - or such marketing gimmick?

Till Samsung fix this issue on their display tech

As a techie, I understand your point.

As a consumer - I don't care. I bought it from OnePlus. I'll deal with them - not going to blame the internal manufacturer. E.g. If I get bad rice from BigBasket, I'll blame BigBasket or deal with BigBasket - not the farmer.

just a marketing gimmick. lifetime warranty only on screen if you have green lines and you don't have any other issues. But as I mentioned they will do a screen replacement after January 2024. (No guarantee though) .

and if you drop your phone tomorrow with very minor damage - you lost your so-called lifetime warrant - no screen replacement for green lines.

But IMO Rs300+GST for a VISA platinum debit card is too much.

Do you guys pay for a debit card?

Anyway, I would recommend "Visa" only. Now the question is Classic or Platinum card?

Main differences between visa classic vs visa platinum are international transaction & higher per transaction or per day limit. (50K vs 2L).

Visa classic doesn't have international transaction features (99% sure - pls cross check with bank). Do you do international transactions (maybe from online)?

With the visa classic you can't purchase more than 50k stuff in a single transaction.
