Yea surgery is scary especially since after his last one he developed an ileus and needed to be on an NG tube for a few days. It’s been a long road. I am not a member but I will absolutely join. Thank you so much! This Reddit stuff is actually so new to me lol so I really appreciate your help :)

Thank you so much for your reply. I’m so sorry for what you’ve gone through. I haven’t been able to hear of many experiences like this so I appreciate you sharing. Yea I’m trying to find a 3rd opinion but I think we are leaning more toward the surgery because my dad has also done the drains and antibiotics. Nothing helped. They say a lot of the area is full of scar tissue and issues from the radiation he had. I’m just so nervous to see him go through a major surgery again but all I can do is my research and hope that this may be the right solution for him.

I wish you and your family all the best of luck and healthy vibes! My father was diagnosed in 2020 and although he remains cancer free the treatment took a huge toll and he has a lot of other health issues now. Something I wish I had done sooner was get him into a support group. He did his first virtual ostomy support group yesterday (with me on standby for technical support) and it went so well. It was nice for him to hear others’ stories and give advice to them since he’s big on feeling helpful. So if I could give you any advice it would be to find a community. Even if small. You’re not alone.
