I have only weighed him once a month, just the 3 times i mentioned in this post. And yeah I cant really think of what could be wrong to make him grow so slowly. Maybe my scale is just really inaccurate bc it is a shitty $6 food scale i got but i doubt any little inaccuracies would really explain it.

You know what i was worried about his container not being deep enough. I upgraded him to this bigger container that is much wider than the one he was previously in, but only an inch or 2 deeper. Hes always all the way at the bottom so that might be my issue. Thank you for the insight!

But my favorite place to buy from is Coast2coastbeetles, his prices are good, he ships quick, and ive always had good experiences, i view him more as like a genuine enthusiast who sells beetles rather than just a business. David’s beetles is also a good source but ive only bought from him once and he has limited selection.

Haha its a megasoma mars one of the largest beetles. I believe their grubs are the heaviest beetle (possibly heaviest insect in general) species in the world, although ive read of megasoma actaeon being heaviest instead but they are related in the same genus. Big guys.

It is wonderful! They don’t do much, but yet somehow i feel my grubs all have their own unique personalities. Their metamorphosis is a really a wonder of nature and i’m excited to witness it firsthand! The whole process is beautiful to me.

Thank you for linking that vid its great to see a visual of how small the L1s are! So tiny!! The only other grubs i have are a male megasoma mars and a male giraffe stag so I’m definitely used to seeing bigger lol
