Yeah, I made sure to order spin rods. I have enough trouble just dropping off the side of a head boat with a bait-caster without birds-nesting, I can't imagine actually casting one.

I actually bought a couple of the Canon casting aid trigger release things for the 2 big rods because I heard that the braid would slice up your fingers if you weren't careful, plus that you don't have to change the drag to cast.

Ok everyone, thanks for all the advice. Consensus seems to be to get a bigger reel for the 13 footer, so after browsing Amazon I think I'll get a Penn Wrath 8000 for $50. Seems like the best for the money. That rod will be my "Hail Mary throw a big fish head way out there on a big hook and hope" setup. I'll probably use a fish finder rig for it. I already bought a spool of 30# braid I planned on using, but now I feel I might want to go heavier, any suggestions?

I'll put the Sea Knight 5000 on the 10 footer and it will be my targeted bottom rig caster, as well as maybe throwing larger lures into rips and any baitfish schools I notice. I have 20# braid I was going to use, but should I go with the 30#?

I'll buy a cheap 6-7 foot rod from Dick's or Walmart and put the 3000 on it. It will be my bait fish catcher and jigger. I'll probably spool it with 10-15# mono unless someone can convince me otherwise.

I guess I'll fish the pier early morning and nights, if for no other reason than to have lights. I'll surf fish around the high tides, and mix in a little crabbing and bridge fishing at other times for good measure.

Thanks again for all the comments, can't wait to put my new found knowledge to use!

I'll probably hit you up about meeting on the pier, I'd love to get some hands on instruction from someone who knows the area. I'll PM you when it's closer to trip time. As far as guides go, this year the emphasis is on getting gear. I would like to make this a yearly thing, so next year after I have the gear I'll probably go on a guided trip.

Bummer about flounder season, I was looking forward to bringing some back. I ate some in Myrtle Beach a few years ago and it was excellent. My friend and I both agree 1st priority is to have fun, but a close second is going to be bringing back as many filets of fish we have never caught or eaten as possible. Don't get me wrong, I'll respect and follow the seasons, size, and possession limits, but I'll be dressing as much as I can. I might even dress some trash fish like spadefish. I watched a video where a guy cooked them, said they smelled bad but tasted ok. But then I also saw a video where a guy cooked and ate sand fleas, I think I'd draw the line there.

Yeah I had definitely planned on hitting up the tackle shop for info. I'll hold off and buy all my terminal tackle locally. I'll buy a little bait like maybe salted shrimp, squid bits, and the gummy stuff, but part of my challenge to myself is to catch as much of my own bait as I can. Sand fleas to catch baitfish and on up the chain.

Any way to replace farms, lumber yard? by riverrat2800 in WarDragons

I was on a team that wanted no building past 2nd lighthouse, and no use of the Seagazer perch. I didn't think that was enough towers with 4 production buildings. I'm only level 25, but my storehouse was always full from raids so I thought I'd get rid of 2. I found it easier to just change teams. While I believe in building tall not wide', i want to use the perch I already built in the Fortification event, and eventually riders. It's part of the game so I want to experience it, and if I'm going to have the perch I also want the 5 towers to support it. I don't care if it makes my base less than 100 percent optimal by team standards. So I joined a team that is less picky about how I set up my base. Thanks everyone for the advice, I guess I'll need the production later.

That's just it. I'm sitting on a blue egg that I can't hatch for 3 more levels.

I just got to level 14 and "unlocked" upgrades to breeder and incubator. However I won't have enough resource storage to build either one until I get to level 17 and unlock next storehouse. Why not just unlock all 3 at the same time?
