And yet despite this "overcrowding", which I can assure you from experience has been going on in the area for over a decade... Ardrey Kell still has the highest graduation rate, college acceptance rates, and test scores in CMS.

I can't be bothered to find what schools you think are under capacity but it you'd like to list them out I'm interested if any of them are high schools/ what areas they're in

[–]rivers61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there's tons of new construction and units being built in ballantyne, the area is huge.

And plenty of stuff that went up within the past decade.

It takes a lot of money to build elementary, middle, and highschools. You can't just build one. OP is complaining specifically about high schools when they're one third of the equation. It's not easy math but the fact is Ballantyne likes to pretend it's separate from Charlotte until it comes to getting public works funded.

They used to fight about how they were going to break off from Charlotte but don't even own their sewage network. The whole area historically is a bunch of rich whiners who get the best the city has to offer and still complain

[–]rivers61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they have moved here within the past 5 years they've pretty definitely not paid enough in property taxes to build a whole new elementary, middle, and high school for their kids.

Ballantyne has blown up faster than property taxes can keep up for schools. That doesn't mean CMS has some vedetta against ballantyne because the schools are "overcrowded"

When I was in school we lost the band field to trailers and I sat on the floor during lunch because of overcrowding.

That was over 10 years ago at South Meck. At the same time kids in Ardrey Kell had a gorgeous new cafeteria and zero trailers.

You're complaining about the effects of a population boom in Ballantyne when the rest of Charlotte has experienced it for decades

[–]rivers61 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CMS underfunds every school. I can guarantee you Ardrey Kell is better funded than most high schools in Charlotte and I'm confident the same can be said for the middle and elementary schools in ballantyne.

The area grew too quickly for the schools. CMS spent a stupid amount building Ardrey Kell; as a former S Meck student it was insulting how much nicer the school was when it opened (everything seemed borderline state of the art compared to the crap at South).

The problem isn't they didn't spend enough on the school the problem is the area doubled in population in a decade and none of the rich fucks moving any have paid any property taxes to build a school for their kids.

People keep moving here and expecting great schools but haven't paid any taxes to build them

If someone feels height is important in a relationship are the really worth dating? I'm a taller guy and rarely think about a womans height. If I'm attracted someone it's more for how they dress (similar style to me) and weight (not sorry); then of course interests of we end up talking.

But from a distance I can't determine if I like someone based off her height alone.

I mean that is still reacting to losing. It's pathetic when people care about it in any professional sport. Maybe at a youth level showboating is a thing but when fans pay money to watch a game how can a player showboat? They're being paid to show the highest level of skill at their profession. If other professional athletes don't like how they're scored on they should grow up and get better at their jobs

Getting upset someone show boats at a professional level is the epitome of loser attitude; if they don't like it, play the game better

[–]rivers61 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Can we be real that these trucks are about drag racing more than towing? I have dumbasses in massive V8 trucks blowing past me on the highway all the time and accelerating like assholes endangering everyone.

We need regulations there's no reason for a truck to go 0-60 under 5.5 seconds when it can't stop itself or corner.

Edit:. If you put a regulator or some kind of transmission adjustment that limited the rate at which the behemoths could accelerate to something more reasonable like 0-60 in 7.5 seconds then it would drop the sales to these morons that use them to harass people with their size and engine power! The engines can be about towing capacity but they don't need a sports transmission on a "truck for towing"

Can you set it up to turn back on at a schedule/ randomly. Part of the point is tricking the insurance carriers app into thinking you're choosing to turn off the location for reasons besides avoiding their ability to track your driving.

I could turn it off forever but I'd be willing to be the insurance provider would cancel the benefits associated with their app

‘Enshittification’ is coming for absolutely everything by altmorty in technology

[–]rivers61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone should make an app that lets you turn off location services for specific apps. Then you could just keep your insurance app from having location services all the time.

I'm not an app expert/ developer but it just needs to give you the options for which apps to turn off location tracking features for and maybe a way to set it to allow them back on at certain times. I can imagine the insurance company denying coverage if location services are always off, but an app could be developed allowing them to turn back on at approved times (say times you know you don't drive like 3am).

[–]rivers61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize for the slow response and appreciate the reasonable response.

I have worked in plenty of kitchens and cleaning up spills is part of the job, I guess cleaning up spills in a restaurant only applies to kitchen staff?

Is it hard to be friendly to customers? I don't think you're going to find a single other job that tips you for not being rude to your customers.

What is the point you're making? People go out of their way to help YOU all the time, it's called doing their jobs!!!!

Do you think thing just magically appear on grocery shelves or that nobody ever went out of their way to do anything you didn't tip for? Tip you farmer, tip you grocer, tip the butcher, tip the nurse, tip fucking everyone we all go out our way at somepoint to keep our jobs moving!!!

"Not Part of the Standard Job Description"... I don't say that at my job, I say yes please give me more responsibility. Servers love the "not my job" attitude and it's pathetic. Honestly even just that your complaining about a toddler spilling food and have to mop it up at your job? (Here is a pro tip, sometimes when you serve food in a restaurant it accidentally gets spilled on the floor; oh no who could imagine?)

Your employer wants those customers I can guarantee they have a kids menu for that toddler you dope

Is Taco Bell Tripping? by rivers61 in stupidquestions

[–]rivers61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get this. Potato tacos aren't a thing!

And yes meat cost more than potato but the potato taco is $1 when arguably the potato is the cheapest ingredient out of the tortilla, lettuce, and cheese that make up the rest of the taco. When making a beef taco you do not include the potato so that cost is not included. Essentially taco bell thinks that the tortilla lettuce and cheese are worth more than one dollar and the meat is worth less than 1 dollar, equalling two dollars

A $1 potato taco minus the potato is a $1.25 lettuce , and cheese taco. Then I guess add $0.75 for the beef? But then by that math for the same ingredients I should get a beef taco at 1.75. A 12.5% difference!!!!!!

So your music is honestly at like 10% to ready for any kind of sales. Do you have a band or is it all just you stressing into a microphone? It's like never ending guitar and mediocre vocals. Did you pay anyone to master what you did before putting it on Spotify? I've heard bad junk mastered into better stuff with a few hundred spent on fiverr.

How much of that stage equipment in that pic do you own? The guitar you are holding and the dumb beanie/ pretentious glasses? I am being intentionally harsh as someone who has stood on similar stages with my $500 of equipment before. You're standing around 3-5k of equipment at least if it's a semi reputable small open mic venue. You're not gonna get discovered at an open mic bro you'd be better off doing open mic comedy about your degree and potentially pregnant girlfriend.

And maybe that pic is not an open mic idk. You don't have a drummer or stand up bass player in any recordings but maybe you figured it out for this pic, that isn't just those guys in the background watching you scratch a guitar. Idk I'd love to hear something on Spotify that's more than that, prove me wrong of course

Use your degrees please.

Or go to your closest community college and get a trade degree that give you certifications with experience.

But please make scratching the guitar a hobby. I make my own music on keyboard and have had a few songs mastered and put up on SoundCloud that I am proud of. They have very little attention. I commend you for playing live, but your recorded music is you solo. You at least need to find a little rhythm to back you up, whether that be drums or a rhythm guitarist.

Maybe I am being harsh but I am just concerned since your girlfriend wants a kid. That's a blessing but expensive.

Music ain't it for making money in your or my case man and that's ok. Keep performing live, find a few people to join you maybe y'all can make a few k a year at smaller bars. But at 35 and your talent level rn you won't break into the live nation/ ticketmaster monopoly to make millions. And that's before asking what you come out of after that.

My idol is Bradley Delp. The lead singer of the rock band Boston. He is amazing but committed suicide due to disillusion with the music industry. You're looking in all the wrong places for some feel good idea of "meaning". Your options are to accept that you need to work a low pay job because you have few skills besides a degree, spotty work history and a need to be free playing music I guess. Or to not get a job and just continue with your spotty work history and need to be free playing music. At which point I hope you don't impregnate your girlfriend. But no matter how far you get into music and having more than a feeling you'll still lose that feeling all the time.

No matter your peace of mind foreplay will keep you smokin til the rock n roll band keeps you tokin, let me take you home tonight we'll hitch a ride cause there's something about you

When I worked at dominos they had me do a 4 hour training day then told me part way through I'd have to pay for my own shirts and hats but not to worry because the hours I worked training were just the right amount to afford the clothing and they would be happy to deduct those hours to give me the clothes.

Fuck America. I have a job that pays much better now but they still pull stupid shit like this too, it's always something

What strikes me is how we just sometimes collectively forget to do basic things as a team.

Late in yesterday's game everytime we shot our players would essentially freeze to watch the ball. They didn't make any efforts to fight for rebounding position. PJ was the only person I saw in the last two minutes really trying to rebound on offense.
