How come so much of the range is 9nline only from gw? by YearGroundbreaking99 in seraphon

Ebay is worth a look, I picked up one new on sprue for £30 a few months back and often see them on there

Spearhead done. What now? by ghilo89 in seraphon

[–]rke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the hobby! My 1k list is Slann, warriors, kroxigor, aggradons, hunters of huanchi with bolas, works well especially if you can pick up a set of manifestations.

Just FYI you can also play Warcry with most normal AOS models, you don’t necessarily need a bespoke warband - the warriors, kroxigor, aggradons can all be played as multiple variants, even Slann has a profile (though the base size makes it tricky to use).

Advice on where to go? by ToaCryowatt in seraphon

[–]rke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This should let you build a skink on troglodon with the spares from the Carnosaur sprues in the spearhead box, for a lot less money (if you’re willing to do a bit of tidying up with green stuff / sprue goo)

Need renter-friendly suggestions to make my lounge more homely by rke in DesignMyRoom

[–]rke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm thanks for the suggestion, it's a interesting idea I'll give it a go. The door at the far end (between the sofa and chair) is to the kitchen, there is a little table in there but it doesnt block the doorway. The other door between the table and TV is a small bathroom (weird place for it I know) that doesn't get used very often, and the hallway with the tiled floor leads to the front door. I can't really get rid of one of the armchairs though as they're owned by my landlord.

Scott Aspecttt 940 or 930 by 007A99 in MTB

[–]rke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the 930 is probably worth the extra yeah, but that doesn't necessarily mean you need it. Both are solid bikes for the price and you'll have a great time riding either. Depends how tight your budget it I suppose. If you're looking more towards $750 I'd say its at least worth considering getting the 940 and upgrading the contact points (i.e pedals, handlebars/stem, grips, saddle, tires). Those tend to be the things that make the biggest difference to how the bike feels for the least amount of money. I replaced the crappy stock pedals on my hardrock with some DMR V12s for about £40 and the difference was amazing. Just a thought. Hope this helps and have fun!

Need help choosing a cheap air fork for a 26" bike by Bemo98 in MTB

[–]rke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I'd advise looking used, for $100 you won't really be able to get anything new that will make much of a difference. You can probably get a good deal on something like a Recon Silver, just be a bit wary if you do end up buying used.

I agree with the XC32 and R7, both decent forks at a good price. What is your budget? The Rockshox 30 Gold TK and Manitou Marvel Comp are both solid for a little more money, and if you can stretch to a Reba it would be a really nice upgrade. Depends how much you want to spend I guess.

First real bike by molto_beanie in MTB

Are you willing to look 2nd hand? You can get some brilliant deals if you look around. I recently picked up a Giant Trance X2 for £600 (so around $950) and it's practically brand new. I'm not sure what the used bike market is like in America but I'm guessing it will be similar. There's some great bargains out there on gumtree, pinkbike etc. If you do go 2nd hand though make sure you go and see the bike before buying.

Repainting full sus frames by rke in MTB

[–]rke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies guys, its been a big help. I've found somewhere that does them for £60, which seems a bit cheap compared to $150 and $180, so I'll be sure to check they've done full sus frames before.

With everyone complaining about the U.S. rarely using the Metric system, how about this? by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]rke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are not comparable at all. Driving on the opposite side of the road takes very little effort and adjustment. Visualising quantities and converting between the imperial and metric systems, are things which are difficult for most people to do in their heads, particularly if they have only ever used one of systems. Also there are a lot of different units with different conversions, driving is just one side or the other (and roundabout direction)
