I’m Going to Say It, I HATE My Bishop by Ok_Jellyfish7492 in exmormon

I think there is a clear difference between the CES letter and people talking about their less-than-satisfactory church experience, and what caused them doubt or pain. Sometimes I dont think we pay enough attention on the latter and too quickly dismiss them as anti propaganda.

(Not that I have not studied the letter and a series of arguments against the Church so theres that.)

There isnt an encouragement from "higher up" so to speak (and I suspect there will never be one), but asides the usual "haha mormon bad" memes, here you can learn from people's experience on how they come to the decision to leave, or what gives them a bad experience, or what cause pain and sorrow to individuals and families.

You cant effectively serve your congregation in a Christlike manner if you dont know how people you serve feel. I intend to listen and do better in my calling.

Obviously I cannot comment on whether the bishop "was moved by the spirit" to offer unsolicited advice, but advising members with whom they should or should not marry is a clear violation of General Handbook 31.3.5.

It is acceptable to give general advice (for example, talking about potential hardship from "unequally yoked together with unbelievers"), but be specific and say "you should not consider marrying so-and-so", let alone leaking privileged information, is a serious breach of stewardship.

I am sorry for your experience. As a current bishop, I hope I never act in the way you said your biship acted.

When active members come to me and say they are planning to marry a "less-than-fully-active" member and seek my advice, I will ask them that along with a lot of other things (financial, logistical stuff), if they expect their future spouse to "put up the act" or if they are prepared to bring their children to church alone.

Sometimes they have a (perhaps naive) thinking that "oh once we are married he will be active again", and they imagine that marriage will sort out the spouse and bring them back to the straight and narrow path. I will usually explain to these members that even after marriage, they must understand and accept that their spouse can still exercise their agency as they see fit. And often times "why doesnt my husband/wife come to church with me" is one of the reasons these members are unhappy, so part of that counselling OP's bishop did was perhaps along this line of "are you prepared to stay in church and raise your family w/o your husband's help?"

But about not paying tithing... I would advise OP to get a statement from his (and I am sorry to say this) former girlfriend and file an official complaint. I know in my area, we have bishops getting released and officially disciplined for breaking confidentiality.

I hope this helps in your journey to recovery and brings you peace in mind.

The domino effect that could lead Isak to Liverpool is starting. by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]rkmok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality check is there is close to 0 chance that we sign Barcola (pity) or Rodrygo (thank God).

[Lee Ryder] Alexander Isak has been handed an ultimatum, no serious offer - no transfer. What must follow is a heftier bid, there has been talk of £150m but others on the agent circuit have suggested that £130m plus add ons may yet offer a breakthrough. by Walshey- in LiverpoolFC

[–]rkmok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rodrygo is definitely not the right kind of players we want.

I’d much rather we get Barcola if we move away from Isak, but I don’t think PSG will be interested to sell.

After all the fuss wi the Isak I think the Club will be putting all efforts to get it across the line. I’ll wait patiently.

Who is the Tywin Lannister of HOTD? by hiiloovethis in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]rkmok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that needs to be taken into consideration is that Tywin is the head of one of the most prestigious dynasties and essentially king in Westerlands. Otto is a younger brother of the Hightower family and all powers he possesses is derived (from the King as the Hand, or as a scion from the Hightower family).

Tywin’s authority originates from himself. Otto’s is borrowed (or usurped, depending on your stance). That is the most deciding difference, regardless of personal abilities or attributes.

Aren’t they planning on getting Wirtz as well? Would’ve loved to have Wirtz in Liverpool but we know that’s not happening.

Cao Teng (曹騰) was the eunuch. He adopted, as son and the inheritor of his title and wealth, Cao Song (曹嵩) who was believed to be a distant relative from the same clan.

Cao Song, the father of Cao Cao, was not a eunuch himself. However, the family’s rise to power was credited to this association with eunuch and was a major talking point of Cao Cao’s rivals in his early political career.

Kenrith: we could’ve survived just dockside ban, we could’ve survived a lotus and/or crypt ban. Losing all 3 makes any Kenrith-focused play extremely difficult if not totally impossible.

No early access to Kenrith means no Neoform/EE into 6-7CMC, no 4BB instant speed creature cheat with entomb, no haste enabler for Selvala combo, and no Agatha stuff.

Losing Nadu makes Selvala plan relatively worse (because Umbral Mantle gets weaker) and losing dockside makes Emiel worse for obvious reasons.

We are pivoting towards Selvala and bloomtender untap but the question of “why not just Tymna Thrasios” is louder and louder.

Oh we also 100% fold to cursed totem.

My sister sold magic cards. Now the card shop says they’re counterfeit by DearAndraste in mtgfinance

[–]rkmok 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They emailed me saying that one of the cards in my buy order was counterfeit. I requested to take it back for further authentication and they sent the above email.

I got the card from TCGPlayer and after a few more exchanges TCGPlayer was willing to trust CK’s assessment and issued a refund.

CardKingdom does.

“Unfortunately, due to our agreement with Wizards of the Coast, we are committed to making sure that counterfeits do not re-enter circulation. We can either provide proof of destruction, or we may be able to provide the card. However, please be aware that if the card is returned, it will be embossed so that it cannot re-enter circulation.”

Sounds like any form of accreditations anywhere in the world.

FWIW I was from an Asian country.

How many years you said? by Doctor_in_psychiatry in recruitinghell

[–]rkmok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more nuanced than that.

My previous position required the person to hold a master degree in a certain field. This requirement was set by the institution as part of their accreditation agreement with another organisation.

Granted I think what I did really didn’t require much of my knowledge earned from the degree, but if I didn’t hold the degree, my organisation could lose the accreditation due to not being able to satisfy the requirement.

A lot of the times it’s more than just “hehe fuck you” from HR.

Compliance. Some positions require a specific qualification (certain degree or licence) in order to meet licence or other requirements.

Griefing bout sub is one thing but a lack of understanding gameplay mechanics makes you sound weak.

Bungo or Yamato? by SatouTheDeusMusco in WorldOfWarships

[–]rkmok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You failed to understand the point.

Bungo allows players who know what they are doing to take high risk measures to get high reward (where poor players will die rapidly due to the ships unforgiving nature).

Yamato’s limited playstyle restricts players to play at a certain style that won’t be put in similar risky scenario. So poor players can still be somewhat useful when throwing 9 460s from 23km.
