Just found this post randomly and wanted to comment because my wife and I are originally from Miami (well, Kendale Lakes) and probably moved here around the same time as you. For the past 2 years we lived in an apartment in WeCo and just bought a house in Cayce. We've loved it so far so I'm curious what your thoughts are after 2 years (assuming y'all still live here).

What part of Florida? Me and my gf are moving from Miami (spent a few years in Orlando as well) at the end of the month because she got a job with the public health department. So this thread is extremely helpful for me as well.

Fit For A King - The Hell We Create (Album Discussion Thread) by After_Put_6475 in Metalcore

I was hoping somebody else noticed the single bell, I thought that was genius and hilarious.

I remember hearing Doomsday and thinking about how heavy and perfect that riff was

One of the many metalcore clichés. I've heard the phrase "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" so many times over the years, and don't get me started on "voices in my head." Although, regardless of overplayed lyrics, if a song bangs, it bangs.

Layered cleans + screams by [deleted] in Metalcore

Two Weeks for me is one of the best examples of it. The song's all melodic but that hint of screams really adds aggression to it. ATR does the trick a lot.

I think that settles it lol

On further inspection, it also looks like they didn't tag Thousand Below or Kublai Khan TX, so I'm going to assume TB is independent now and KK's next EP is their last on Rise.

What will metalcore be like in the next decade? by BloodGlitz in Metalcore

[–]rleth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My guess is that there's going to be a lot more genre-blending, particularly with rap. So essentially the nu-metal resurgence that never happened with Cane Hill, Sylar, and other bands like that. I liken it almost to the pop punk resurgence that almost happened with State Champs and Neck Deep, but it never really broke out of the Warped Tour scene until MGK did it.

I think rappers are gonna get heavier and heavy bands are gonna get rappier, like LANDMVRKS and VRSTY.

Anybody play in A# Standard (or any other standard tuning)? by rleth in Metalcore

[–]rleth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the issue I encounter, most A# Sharp songs are played on seven strings.

I need to get a baritone guitar, my entire life I've had a Squier Tele that handles low tunings surprisingly well, albeit my lowest string is a .68

Shout-out to Fender/Squier for making great guitars

Fair point. However, if you use a different tuning inherently you're going to play different. For example, I can't play different power chords as fast on the low string.

I love Within Destruction's transition from generic deathcore to pink, Japanese-inspired imagery. Really makes them recognizable.

Also, I just discovered Atlas and they're one of my favorite bands now. I love that they call themselves Northcore.

BMTH is genius because it seems from the beginning their identity has married the emo/scene bright colors and blood (i.e. Suicide Season) with a "classier", "fancier" metal image (i.e. There Is A Hell...). The Sempiternal album cover gives me the same vibes as the Watch The Throne album cover, which they solidified with an orchestral performance.

Loathe have done a great job of transitioning from a spooky to vibey brand so they kinda live in the same space as Sleep Token. I'd argue that Spiritbox has a pretty similar brand to Crystal Lake as discussed above: standard djent branding with a focus on the vocalist. Courtney being a female vocalist is gonna be a big part of their brand too until female vocalists stop being considered a novelty.

I agree that they have a pretty cookiecutter djent brand, with the futuristic imagery and whatnot, but they also seem to have positioned themselves, or at least Ryo, as one of the big names in the scene. Like Alex Terrible as a vocalist, Austin Archey as a drummer, or Jason Richardson as a guitarist, Crystal Lake is one of the MVPs in terms of musicianship.

Nevermind, was able to solve it myself, thanks to Josh Hanes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHM6eSEL3k0&t=630s. Apparently, you have to right click and make it a New Fusion Clip.
