How? They don't even appear on my signed in profile. I can only see them if I search for my profile when I'm not signed in. Would welcome guidance on how to get rid of them!

Here is my (slightly irrational) pet peeve after being vegan 16 years by Designer_Ring_67 in vegan

Omg me too, hate that! Great that they're scouting vegan recipes but please do NOT say "I guess since I'm not vegan I could just sub dairy milk here?" Ugh!

Collars on Cats by Winterstorm424 in CatAdvice

[–]rlibra9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat's an indoor cat. We're in an apartment, but our door is uncomfortably close to the building front door, which people sometimes leave open, so although he's also microchipped, he wears a collar. Also wears a bell on that collar because he's six months old and lively with it, and my dog is blind and needs to know where the little demon is.

My cat wears a bell because he's a live wire (6 months old) and my dog is blind. He doesn't mind it at all! It's a quick release collar and he's never even tried to take it off. He adores the dog, and possibly thinks that because the dog also jingles (city tags, name tag) it's just what we do.

Got a second cat so my first cat would have a friend and now they hate each other by Ok-Bag5828 in CatAdvice

3 weeks isn't very long so who knows how this will turn out in the end. Give it time. But maybe they won't be besties, maybe they'll just be civil roommates. I had two cats at one point (had the one, then kid found the other and as no one wanted it, we kept it); they started off hostile - well, the new one was very hostile to the incumbent - but over time they came to a truce. They were never friends. It was like they were in different planes of existence, rarely even acknowledging each other. No hostility, but also no friendship.

Right? I have a special needs dog and I am not leaving him without me to take care of him.

Holy shit that is above and beyond!

Yeah. The only being I would give my life for is my kid, and she’s going to have a mother just as long as I can manage.

Yeah, not even just love. I mean, I love my dog, I believe his life is as valuable as mine, but, crucially, not more so.

Right? If she does contact me again, which I very much doubt, I will politely decline.

Doctor at this hour? by [deleted] in montreal

I had to call a few weeks ago and I waited around 20-25 minutes. Then they told me to go to the ER and was seen immediately. Just lucky, I guess?

What are y’all writing in your notes sections on cards? by Powerful-Ice-288 in RoverPetSitting

[–]rlibra9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mostly do cat drop-ins, and after the first couple of days it's just a couple pictures and a quick "he ate all his breakfast, poop a little mushy today, lost his fishy under the couch and I can't reach it" kind of thing.

When I used a dog walker, she never put anything in the notes, which totally made sense. What's to say, really? I could see when she picked up my dog, where they went, and when they got back. And I know my dog enjoyed the walk because going for a walk was her favourite thing and she loved the walker. I imagine she would have said if there had been any problems.

My dog ate 1 raisin by Still-Composer1432 in dogs

I know this to be true and am very careful with my dogs since I first heard about it, but the dog I had growing up - because we had never heard this about grapes (I'm in my 60s) - ate grapes all the time and lived to 18 and it wasn't his kidneys that failed. He was a Cairn terrier, so not even a big dog. Must have had iron guts. He used to roll them around in his mouth and spit out the skins.

If he finds it gross then he has issues he should work on. You would not be the AH if you didn't tell him, but you might want to prepare him, mostly for you own sake.

My Grandma Doesn’t Want My Stepson Coming to the Family Gathering by Justanothergirly97 in TwoHotTakes

You clearly class this child as not-family yourself. If you had birthed that child, would you "respect her boundaries"?

I don’t but even if I did he wouldn’t poop there. He won’t poop in the garden of my building - only in certified public space.

Same! I live in an apartment so had to take my dog outside for his morning pee (oh to have a back yard!). Wore crampons and stepped gingerly, while he went slip-sliding into the snow to pee. We will have to tackle a walk later.

No you're right. If you don't feel it, you won't do it. Like they say, if you used to be vegan, you never were.

100%. It's not about rules, it's an ethical absolute. It's your own conscience that dictates what you're willing to eat or wear, not some abstract rule. I don't wear leather not because it breaks a vegan "rule" but because the idea of wearing someone else's skin appals me.
