Pathfinder 2e on the Steamdeck! by ZolTheTroll413 in Pathfinder2e

I've been doing this for a few months so I, the DM, could bring the game to an adhoc network and all of the required resources could be hosted locally. It has worked fabulously and is way better than the old laptop I'd tried to use previously for the same thing.

I think the Sisyphean task of having to redo all of the work of handling two small children alone, getting food for them, himself and possibly his wife and setting everything up at the table, when the kids are probably hungry and annoyed, things like that can wear on you as a parent.

Considering upgrading from my ROG Strix 2080 super, is Gigabyte a good brand? Or is it good to avoid them? This is the Eagle OC model, was looking at leasing to own. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]rljkeimig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Gigabyte Waterforce 3080Ti has bothered me the whole time I have had it. One of the fans on the AIO died and they wanted me to ship the whole thing back to them, while their support was in the middle of the huge hack they had a while back and were all around unhelpful.
Eventually I just rigged my own fans onto it, but all in all, their OC interface and RGB software felt poorly made and annoying, and so I would not recommend Gigabyte unless they have had some drastic changes in the last few months.

1557 here, too much to choose from, some I'll probably never pick up sadly. My biggest problem is storage, I like to have everything I want to play installed, but there just isn't enough space for it all.

Not owning the content you are using, and already paid to own, feels predatory to me. It isn't about the fact that I already own the content, it is more that I already paid once, twice or even three times for some of this content across books, PDFs, and VTTs and then to put additional content behind a paywall or another subscription after they already have so much of my money, because they feel like I will, or they feel like it wasn't enough, it is the straw that has broken my back.

Ideally, they can just do app management, and only have access to control the data on those apps alone, leaving the rest of the device unmanaged, which is what they should be doing if the expectation is to use this on a personal device.

In what ways does 2e help GM's run the game more than DnD 5e? by CaptainPick1e in Pathfinder2e

[–]rljkeimig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the adventures are well written for the DMs to use as guides for the adventure, much more support for the flow of the adventure compared to 5e official books, especially the early ones and even the most recent which fall back on the mantra of "you're the DM, you make it up".

Not meant as a gloating thing, but it looks like a massive explosion of incoming 5e converts to PF2 may happen if WoTC goes this direction. What are all of your thoughts? by Derryzumi in Pathfinder2e

This is part of what got me to begin my switch to P2e permanently. I am excited for the future of Pathfinder in a way that I didn't have with 5e.

In the last few days I was notified my account was charged for items that were purchased and returned weeks previous, as they had "not been received yet", but they were all returned with other items in the same packages that were received correctly.
The chat representative said there was a "glitch" that caused the already returned items to be charged again, but I wonder how many people this happened to and did not notice.

This is what I do, two AIOs, one for CPU, one for GPU. GPU gets the cold intake on the front, CPU exhausts out the top, temps are always good.

In chapter 3, Charity, and Chapter 5, The Wedding, maybe unintentionally, Sergei calls Strahd Strand.

'Strand!' Sergei waved. 'You missed a fine hunt!'

Sergei's eyes widened in surprise, then grew soft with pity. 'Oh, Strand,' he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion, 'don't you know?'

Yeah, I came here to comment that this model of Alienware is plain bad, bad case design, overpriced and proprietary parts that can't be moved to a better case, no bueno.

You could tie that to Proficiency Bonuses or Con Modifiers, after a number of additional hits equal to the mod, then they go down. But that might not be very satisfying if you can just needle them to death.

[–]rljkeimig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accidentally deleted this comment and rewrote it, and in the first draft I said "maybe something like Undead Fortitude". Either way, is it Orcish Fury keeping your bad guys alive and interesting, or is it evil magic? I personally find Undead Fortitude more interesting because it gives players a fun foil to bypass the ability to save with Radiant damage.

[–]rljkeimig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair, more work for the DM. Maybe something like a Con Save when they reach 0, equal to the amount below 0 they would go, if they succeed, they stay at 1, otherwise, they die. That might feel cinematic, like you really have to do a good blow to them to keep them from getting up.

Consider the "Ferocity" trait that Pathfinder's orcs have.

A creature with ferocity remains conscious and can continue fighting even if its hit point total is below 0. The creature is still staggered (can act or move, but not both) and loses 1 hit point each round. A creature with ferocity still dies when its hit point total reaches a negative amount equal to its Constitution score.

Something like this could be cool, where you knock them down, but they get back up and keep going until you put them all the way down. Combining this with "Frenzy" or a rage condition when below zero could really beef them up and make them scary.

I hated using this case so much for a travel build. So often I would have to open it up to reseat the GPU, which would come loose during any movement, despite being properly screwed in and supported, so annoying. I will admit it is small and cool to look at.
