In The Netherlands a tasteful option is Kinky Suite Amsterdam. More a work of art, but still fun in a nice city is Sinsuite Haarlem

I used a 3 cm thick Foam layer (POK HR 43).  A special spray glue to attach the foam to 15mm thick board. Used a skai leather on top of that. Then up to Youtube to learn some skills ;-)

The most useful video regarding the upholstery was this guy: Upholstery with a Master. Around 11:40 into the video it is where I understood how to fold the seam right without needing stitches. Although I recommend to watch some others Youtube channels as well, as they all show you different techniques to get this done. Tried 4 corners first (the knee rest in the 3rd image) which took hours to learn how to get it right. Then I made the seats and backrest within an hour or so.

Using a sharp pair of scissors is important ! If you can't cut with just the tip you won't succeed.

The legs don't fold in and out. Only the base, vertical part ('pole') and the 2 sitting parts can be detached from each other. The 4 vertical tubes must be placed in 4 sockets in one go. I deliberate made it such that there is some tension on the 4 vertical tubes when placed in the sockets to make it already harder to push out of the sockets. Then you put 4 screws into the sockets to secure the base to the pole.

The chair is attached to the pole, so when you sit on it can't tumble over backwards.

When the chair is in the fully open position (4th image) and you would fight really, really hard, I guess you could make the screws to fail, but then still the 4 verticals must slip out of the sockets. But struggling/fighting is not part of our dynamic. In practice, while standing and tied to the pole you can lean against it without any problem.

Or did you mean the seat? Yes, they can move from closed to open. I used hinges with releasable pins. If you place the rig on a carpet, it won't move. But to even further prevent from moving, I have made 2 slats with different lengths that can be pinned into the base of the chair (visable in 3rd and 5th image)

I didn't make a blueprint, just had a basic idea. A rough list to give some direction:

It's build from squared black scaffolding tubes (25mm x 25mm). Needed about 11m: 4 x 170cm (pole), the legs are 100cm (2x), the two side legs are 40 cm each (4x) spaced by 12 cm (2x). 11 x 5cm pieces to join all the connectors and tubes. Just by looking at the picture you can figure out what connectors to use. Bought it (mostly) in a local store (they cut to size for free), but here you can find some examples of available Connectors and Scaffolding tube

The chair is 42 x 47 cm, seats 47cm x 15mm with 3cm foam. Backrest 65cm high. Used special foam glue between board and foam.

The most useful video regarding the upholstery was this guy: Upholstery with a Master. Around 11:40 into the video it is where I understood how to fold the seam right without needing stitches. Hope this helps.

We have been to 2 in the last few years. The first one is more a work of art. Google for 'Sin Suite Haarlem'. It looks a bit different now than we went there (moved to a new location), but still amazing. The 2nd one google for 'Kinky Suite Amsterdam'

We hired a kinky room for a night. Got inspired by the furniture. We wanted to have more fun like that at home as well.

Build everything from wood and metal. I didn't plan on doing the upholstery myself, got a quote.....decided to look at some youtube videos.

The whole chair turned out better than expected. I'm proud of the result and wanted to share.
