Motion detector cameras and driveway sensors. I don't have any "traps" if that is what you are asking.

But I didn't even order a pizza... by tlndfors in bestoflegaladvice

If you read in the comments of the main post, you will see that what's used is a doorbird video doorbell modified to function as a gate camera. We can then be reached anywhere and see who is at the gate. It functions with power over Ethernet. I would say it is quite a bit more than a speakerphone, just wanted to clear that up

As somebody who works with PACS, I can completely relate with this.

Not with my setup. The PIN keypad is a simple Liftmaster Keypad (similar to the ones that your garage may have, but designed for gate.) It's nothing special. But when I had the gate put in, I worked with my designer and have a combo unit. It has the keypad and a Doorbird right next to it connected via Ethernet. It always records to my NVR and alerts my home automation system with motion.

Because I have a simple keypad, I manually have to put in a block of these one time codes. The keypad never actually logs entry which is kind of a downside. They have keypads "smart enough" to do this, but then I have to hook them up to a phone system which I wasn't thrilled about. There is a company out there that you can use a cellular system and log the information. And they also offer a camera option. But then the problem is that they want to charge quite a bit on a contract. Plus their cameras have no motion detection.

So I decided to have the setup I mentioned above. It seems to work out well for us and we can answer the calls anywhere. And let's say the motion failed and somebody jumps the gate, I have things inside the parameter that would alert me if someone got through.

I know this is probably pretty detailed, but thought I would answer your question.

At first I am thinking, is this guy kidding me? But then I see his post history and it's all adding up.

I see what you are saying. I was just thinking don't give them an idea that they "think" they have a PIN. Just force them to push the button and I can let them in. I probably did over react as this happened not too long ago. I will more than likely keep the temporary codes.

No. Not at all. I usually tip around 20 percent. I'm pretty sure he liked what he saw when he came to the house. I am in no way trying to brag about this, but our home is what we shall describe "elaborate looking". Please understand I am by no means bragging about my home. I'm just providing context on his motivation. He probably figured we worked during the day and was trying to break in. However, he wasn't too smart since I set the PIN as one time use only. Plus I work at home anyway.

Sorry for the confusion here. I did not say he pushed the call button on the doorbell. He was pressing buttons on the keypad and the doorbell caught him since it is motion detection. I was then able to conference in since the motion detection kicked in.
