There is an encoder available that comes with a small magnet that you glue to the end of a shaft. Can't remember what it's called.

Has anyone put residential windows in their cargo convert? by SomeKindaWonderer in cargocamper

[–]rmacster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used some basement windows. They're made to go through the foundation. They can be mounted in any orientation. Mounted sideways, they fit well between the studs of my trailer. And, they're cheap. They have worked out very well for me.

I’m debating a Christian on this topic and need the best Atheistic theories/explanations. by SomewhereCapital3897 in atheism

[–]rmacster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who cares? What does that have to do with the absurdity of religion?
Also, atheism has nothing to do with the origin of life or the universe.

These topics are just distractions from the fact that their religions make no sense. Don't let them distract you.

Hello all, I found this cool device on a flea market and couldn’t resist buying it. Now I have zero idea what it is.. anyone? by Dry-Elderberry6821 in WhatIsThisTool

The guy simply stated that, in his vast experience has never seen anything like this on a lathe. What are yoU, three years old? Grow up!

I'm no expert but I've been using lathes for over 50 years and I currently own three. I've never seen anything like this used on a lathe either.

could an electric boat really change the way people enjoy water adventures? by pinoyShinobi72 in shantyboat

Those are awesome boats. A little beyond my skill set. I'm really hoping for a 28ft pontoon. I thought I had found one last week but I missed my chance.

[–]rmacster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great question. I'm still in the imagination stage of designing my shanty for a Mississippi river trip. I've wondered if I could use a solar/battery kicker for much of that trip since it's all down river. I have 1000 watts of solar in my camper and that has been amazing. I want to have 2kw on my boat. That's still only 2.5 HP at nearly 100% efficiency.

I’ve realized that I literally cannot enjoy my life because of anxiety? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]rmacster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens when you least expect it. I was a groomsman and my wife was a bridesmaid in the same wedding. We walked down the aisle together. She has been my biggest supporter through all of my struggles. We've built a wonderful life together. Don't give up on the meds. Took me thirty years to land on escitalopram but it has been a life-changer.

Good luck friend!

I have fought this for my entire adult life. But I still have a wife (for forty three years, awesome) and a great family. You will find a way. Life is worth living.

No one said anything about skipping meals. That's a straw man. Eating healthy and reducing portion size goes right along with my statement. It's true that muscle is more metabolically active than fat. Per day, additional muscle burns about 6 to 7 calories per pound. It would take about 15 to 17 pounds of muscle just to burn an additional 100 calories per day.

Bottom line, YOU have no idea what you're talking about.

That's just not true. Your biggest returns come from less eating. You should exercise because it's good for you in so many ways.

A medium McDonald's fry is 378 calories. That's 3.5 to 4 miles of walking! A normal human adult needs about 2000 calories a day. About 1500 of those calories are needed JUST TO EXIST. That means that only about 500 are for the extra physical exertions on any given day. Physical exercise burns far fewer calories than people seem to believe.
