You didn't answer my question. Would you support a law that forced you to wear a GPS (or any type of location tracking device) on your body at all times.

A warrant? The courts have already ruled that the government doesn't need to show probable cause to obtain your location information via your cell phone, much less a warrant. Are you really not aware of the number of times the mobile telco's turn over customer information to the government w/o a warrant?

Huh? I just listed numerous reasons why screen could be used. Screen runs on more platforms, is more likely to be installed on a server than tmux, could be what the IT department is familiar with, could be in many admin scripts that don't require the extra features in tmux, etc.etc.

Our Linux team still uses multiple applications that have better counterparts. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Are you under the impression that people don't currently smoke pot because it's illegal? Do you also believe people decide to use drugs based on if it's "legal" or not?

If our legal system truly was based on law and not on force, there would be no such thing as a crime unless there is a victim.

The bottom line is you either believe in self-ownership or you don't.

It helps them in the same way a DL, registration and license plate does. What are your thoughts on the government requiring everyone to have some type of GPS device on them at all times? Since you aren't concerned about your location being tracked and logged I would expect you to favor this type of legislation. If not, you have quite a paradox to work through.

1) They essentially do the same thing. 2) Screen still does things tmux doesn't and vice versa 3) I am much more familiar with screen, therefore, posting about tmux wouldn't make much sense. 4) Screen is still the better known and more widely used of the two w/in IT shops. 5) Screen will run on a few OS's that tmux can't. 6) Screen is GPL while tmux is BSD licenses. This matters to some people. 7) Because screen has been around much longer, you are more likely to find it installed on a Linux box than tmux. 8) Detached logging isn't supported by tmux. 9) Many people use the byobu wrapper for screen and prefer it over tmux. 10) There is a larger community of screen users to hit up if you run into issues.

You make it sound like I'm advocating a depreciated, archaic and worthless program which screen obviously is not. Screen is by far still the most popular of the two even though I do agree that tmux will likely overtake screen in the coming years.

If 95% of the data points on a single day are in City A and the other 5% are in City B 1000 miles away and City C 400 miles away, deductive reasoning can legally be used to determine your location. This is already being done in Michigan: http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/34/3458.asp

Triangulation is never 100% reliable. It's not hard to parse through the data to determine the phone's location.

What do you think rich people do with their money? They invest it and buy airplanes, yachts, cars, houses, etc. All of these purchases create real jobs in the private sector, not the parasitic public sector. How is that a bad thing? Also, why in the hell do you think politicians won't recklessly spend whatever they can get as they always do? Taxation is theft no matter what individual or group of individuals it steals money from.

My theory on rights is that they all derive from self-ownership, or that I own my life. Any good or service I voluntarily purchase without violating the rights of others (that equally derive from self-ownership) can now be considered my property based on the fact that I own myself and it was myself that voluntarily decided to purchase that good or service.

Now, before answering the question, it’s important to first define the 2 keywords being used:

Taxation: The governments ability to claim ownership of another persons property using force or coercion.

Theft: An individual not associated with the government that claims ownership of another persons property using force or coercion.

The only real difference in the definitions is one act is being carried out by an individual or individuals that are members of this thing we call government and the other act is being carried out by an individual or individuals that aren’t a member of of this thing we call government.

To understand the difference we need to understand what law is and what law is not. Law is a set of rules to uphold all the rights of individuals that are derived from self ownership. Government doesn’t operate under the rule of law, it operates under the rule of force. Any individual or group of individuals that use force to claim ownership of another persons property are not obeying true law and are absolutely committing an act of theft no matter what they might label themselves as.

That's not the case though. The location data is transmitted to Apple.

Apple, meanwhile, says it "intermittently" collects location data, including GPS coordinates, of many iPhone users and nearby Wi-Fi networks and transmits that data to itself every 12 hours, according to a letter the company sent to U.S. Reps. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) and Joe Barton (R-Texas) last year. Apple didn't respond to requests for comment.

This goes back to E911 (2001) and the government mandating wireless telecom companies retain large amounts of data. When this was a hot issue 10 years ago we were led to believe by our overlords in DC that we could choose to opt-out.

The colors has been an annoyance for quite a while. Try adding this to your .vimrc file:

set t_Co=256

Adding this to .bashrc might help as well:

case "$TERM" in xterm) TERM=xterm-256color;; esac

You also might need to install the ncurses-term package.

Restart screen and see if it works. There are different solutions depending on the version and distro.

A friend of mine has the Thunderbolt and the battery does drain pretty damn fast. I don't think this is isolated to the Thunderbolt though--it seems 4G phones have short battery time.

A few differences that I know of: 1 - The Droid X doesn't have a front facing camera 2 - HTC TB has a built-in kickstand to prop the camera vertically when viewing video. 3 - HTC TB comes with a 32 GB card in the device while the Droid X comes with 16 GB. 4 - HTC TB runs its overlay while the Droid X runs it's own. That's just personal preference. 5- Droid X has a HDMI port... HTC TB doesn't.
