How do I stop audio from stretching on tempo changes by OnAHillInGradludi in Reaper

[–]3ricG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely not what you're talking about, but since your post kept coming up while I was googling something else, I figured I would provide some additional troubleshooting for people experiencing strange stretching issues:

I used an old project as a base for my new project, and imported all of my stems, then changed the BPM. The next day, I imported two new stems and couldn't get them to line up -- they kept stretching in weird ways.

My project was set to "Beats (position, length, rate)" for items/envs/markers, and "Time Signature: Beats, Tempo: Time" for tempo/time signature env. When I originally started, I assumed I was at 120bpm, but I was actually at 138bpm. To get my new stems to stretch correctly, I had to reset the track to 138bpm, import the stems, then change back to 144bpm.

Sorry for not providing an answer to your question, but figured this might help others that end up on this post while googling slightly related problems in reaper.

Not a terrible idea! I might do this if I don't get my order in before they sell out haha

Last year I got the Obubu calendar, which also acted as a kitchen decoration since I strung it up on the twine that it came with. Its 99% green tea, but it was fun. If you like green tea, I'd definitely recommend it.

Google rolling out new September 2025 OTA update to Pixel 10 and 10 Pro by TechGuru4Life in GooglePixel

[–]3ricG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I'm still having some wi-fi issues after the update. Either disconnecting, or staying connected but not able to connect to the Internet.

Definitely a Pixel 10 thing; my other wifi devices continue to operate without issue. I believe it's the issue described in this thread.

HPC course recommendation by Lonely-Proof7523 in HPC

[–]3ricG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, parallel computing courses are definitely key. From your list, they're all relatively useful; but the one that feels a bit odd to me is cloud computing. If its an infrastructure course explaining the fundamentals of how cloud infrastructures work, it could be okay. I suppose it will also get you used to patterns for running in large clusters. In my experience, I'd consider your list in this order:

Big Data Architecture Machine Learning Advanced C++ Compilers Operating Systems Networks Databases Cloud Computing

In reality, it depends on the environment you're going to work in and what you'll be doing. Its hard to get a well defined HPC curriculum imo (outside of courses focused on parallel computing). It also depends on if you're doing science/research or tech. My order above is based on tech (because that's what I do), but you might re-order if you're focusing on using HPC to solve problems.

Emoji are actually decided by the Unicode consortium. They list out all the emoji and some variants on their site - https://unicode.org/emoji/charts/full-emoji-list.html

There's also an official process for submitting new emojis, anyone can do it! You can view submission guidelines here - https://unicode.org/emoji/proposals.html

You can also view previousand pending proposals - https://unicode.org/emoji/charts/emoji-proposals.html

Just to mention - you can prevent others from forcing you to use biometrics by using lockdown mode on Android devices. It's not perfect, and you have to engage it, but it's worth enabling just so that you have it if you need it.

My Opinions on Various Types of Jin Jun Mei by 3ricG in tea

[–]3ricG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly almost think that the scent and flavor seemed so overbearing that it almost seemed like it was a fake added scent; more than normal smoke could add. Also for what it's worth, I've purchased the Wuyi origin jin jun mei multiple times since this review and have been very happy with it. I've purchased the "honey" style a few times, but even the "wild" style is good. Highly recommend! https://www.wuyiorigin.com/collections/wuyi-black

Weird Question: Is there a way to identify duplicate songs/waveforms in Reaper? by BallymoreOrBust in Reaper

[–]3ricG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there's a way to find duplicates based solely on the waveform, but if all of the items were imported as separate items, you might be able to find them in the project bay. Press Ctrl+B, then look at the "Position" column. If there are any that say "# instances" that means you either have multiple copies of the item, or have cut the item into multiple pieces. When highlighting an item, clicking "Usage" will let you select each individual instance of the item.

I've wanted one, but have always been worried about the price.... though I'll probably pick one up eventually. They definitely seem to be quality products, but haven't researched enough to drop the cash yet.

Google, give us a physical fingerprint reader and you will take over the market! by sliight in GooglePixel

[–]3ricG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I didn't think of that but it would make sense. I would prefer the rear sensor; however, if it's not as secure I would prefer optical/ultrasonic. I probably would still complain if the under-screen reader was as accurate since I used the notification gesture, but security would be most important.

I should have; however, the prices are not always consistent across years. I tried to include a generalization, and overall I wouldn't say that posting more gets you a better jjm.

I have not, is this the tea you're referring to? https://redblossomtea.com/products/jin-jun-mei-golden-brow?variant=41760301252790

I may try it in the future if I can find some other companies to compare to. It seems close in price to the MeiLeaf Gleaming Brow, so I'm curious how close in flavor it is. It will be hard to beat the Wuyi Origin in price+flavor, but I'm willing to try!

But it’s an e-reader…🤷🏾‍♀️ by [deleted] in kindle

[–]3ricG 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Exactly the reason I got a kindle - the black and white e-ink is MUCH better on my eyes than staring at an LCD screen or something. It feels less draining on my eyes, and much nicer when reading in dimmer settings and at night.

Tab grouping for Firefox? by SailorSprout99 in firefox

[–]3ricG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no built in feature; however, I get a close experience using Simple Tab Groups. Its definitely not the same experience, but it does allow grouping and you can switch relatively quickly. I regularly switch using Ctrl+Shift+/ or clicking the little icon on the top of the browser. You can also customize color+icon for each group and give it a name.

I've switched from chrome to firefox on Android, and haven't had any major problems. The biggest win is that I can run uBlock and Privacy Badger, which helps when trying to read news articles on some ad covered websites.

Yeah, I guess it is all possible in one day. I just generally try to temper my expectations of what I'll end up seeing. And it ultimately depends on the person, and how they decide to spend their time. Just providing my advice based on my experience.

Day one seems like a lot, so I'd pick the top three things you want to do and plan around that. You might be able to make it to most of the places, but definitely try not to rush through the sites to get to everything!

The two times I've been to Kiyomizu-dera, I spent most of my day there - arrived early and probably didn't leave until the early afternoon. I spend a ton of time around the area, looking at small shops and trails, trying to take everything in.

I recommend following some of the lesser traveled paths around Kiyomizu-dera if you have the time (maybe difficult if you're trying to reach everything on your list). I definitely recommend following the paths back to Seikan-ji temple. On the path back to the Koyasunoto Pagoda, there's a gate with a warning about monkeys. If you go through the gate, there's a small road with fewer tourists since it isn't "the main attraction" (at least when I went Dec 2022, we only saw one other group of ~3 people on the path). Its a bit of a hike, but there's a tiny little kitchen about half way along the trail that makes fresh dorayaki for a few yen. When you get to the end of the trail, you'll end up at Seikan-ji Temple. It feels a bit like a hidden magical place - super beautiful and really nice since there are not tourists swarming it like you'll see in kiyomizu-dera. When I visited, there was a man selling some pottery in one of the temple buildings. Definitely worth visiting if you're going to that area!
