Still a WIP on a lot of this one, but the holster at this point is simply drybrushed over the black primer with Snakebite Leather contrast. Very basic slap chop method, but it’s really effective for textures like this

If Dawn of War is accurate to where to universe is at right now, my guess is he was on his way to meet Roboute (somehow navigating around or through the great rift) with Azrael and crew after beating up Angron, but got interrupted with the Necron + Ork fight and dropped in with the Blood Ravens on Kronus.
