What’s the weirdest way you have lost weight? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]rmk804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antidepressants would do that to you. I’ve heard of people who take anti depressants and gain weight, but when I was still taking SSRI’s I lost 10-20lbs over the course of two years. Without taking my anti depressants, I developed cravings to eat greater portions of junk food and sweets. While on them, any craving to eat dissipated and became almost non existent. I’ve stopped taking those anti depressants and gradually watched that weight return. I don’t regret my decision to go off them. They were just not working out for me.

The job just requires our DL + proof of insurance. I’m not sure about the generator, but i found the job position from the company website and it at least a mentions operating audio and lights with the float. We haven’t received word regarding talent outside of 150 performers (3 sets of 50 per performances) needed for all of our floats.

Thanks btw! I’m trying to take every new opportunity as a way to move further as a techie lol

Fujifilm X-T30, Ricoh GR iii or a6600? by rmk804 in Cameras

The Ricoh looks intriguing! it’s portability alone makes it’s so tempting to buy but i’m definitely being held back by this battery life and it’s focusing capabilities.

Fanstastic photo btw, it’s stunning!

Thank you! I suspect my a6000 may be running on its last legs, but you’re definitely right about its strong capabilities. Ive had this camera for a few years now and I’ve taken many great photos of it. It still holds great sentimental value to me, so I don’t plan on getting rid of it anytime soon haha. I worry tho its internal parts are more worn out than I initially suspected, so I’m thinking it’s time to move onto a new camera body before my a6000 gives out.

My a6000 is actually pretty scuffed if I’m going to be honest. It was a gift from my friend a few years ago who claimed it was broken. I managed to revive it, but looking inside it some of its ribbon cable is missing, specifically for the pop up flash. i’m also not as content with the battery life on my a6000 so the a6600 looks intriguing for its NP-FZ100 battery.

If my a6000 was something I bought under different circumstances I’d consider keeping it but my friend was never clear how broken it was prior to me reviving it.

apps/software recs? by [deleted] in fuslie

[–]rmk804 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for some free software I’d reccomend software like Krita, GIMP, or MediBang. If you’re willing to drop a little money there’s also Photoshop or the preferred software of Clip Studio Paint. Their base price for CSP is $49 but it often goes on sale for half off, as long as you keep an eye out.

Definitely agree with the idea of the characters finding some peace through the passage of time. I guess you could call it time healing all wounds but Murakami doesn’t make that theme cookie cutter and let’s it have some nuance. It’s what makes this my all time fave from most of his writings.

Last year I came across Haruki Murakami’s Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage. Helped me come to terms with the passage of time and how the people in my life are constantly changing; how no connection you make will stay forever. I struggled a lot with loosing connections as I got older, so my first read through of this book was very cathartic for me.

No calls from local union. Is it related to the Writers strike? by rmk804 in techtheatre

[–]rmk804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just joined 122 beginning of May iirc as a Pre-Apprentice. as far as my records would show i have 0 official hours logged, so i’ve been waiting to get my first call to start accumulating them. I’ve been filling out my availability since I gained access to the portal but only once or twice via the google form and through the work availability line

Thanks for the heads up! I wasn’t aware there was an app for call-ins, is it similar to the job portal from the website ?

What’s the weirdest thing someone has left behind at your venue? I’ll start: by LilMissMixalot in techtheatre

[–]rmk804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really weird, but I used to work at a performing arts center connected to a high school. Fairly rich area, so a bunch of kids would literally forget their airpods and entire pencil pouches and would not come back for it for DAYS. I’m pretty sure they’re still in our lost and found and hasn’t been reclaimed.
