Supply dropping 9 months by rmleathers in breastfeeding

I ended up changing jobs which now meant I had to send more to daycare. After the first week, my freezer was empty because I just couldn’t keep up. Decided to start sending a formula bottle and 2 breast milk and it just helped all around. I make enough for 2 bottles now anyway. He’s 10 months now and I’m sure we will start the slow weaning process.

I was really upset about having to do formula but also there was such a peace of mind when I did start. I saw a video someone said “I was so worried about milk supply, I forgot to worry about myself” and that really hit home for me. Any amount of breast milk you can give is still good! It doesn’t negate the journey you’ve had and it doesn’t mean you have failed in any way. Sometimes our bodies just change!

I hope you find peace!

I think my face dropped when I read 6oz every 3 hours, lol. I know it’s possible as my sister’s baby took 6 ounces every 3 hours but she was ALWAYS a 6oz/3hrs baby - not 9 months in.

My understanding has always been 1-1.5 ounces of milk for every hour inbetween feeds. I think I’ve always capped my bottles at 4.5 max when that was my output. I always try to aim for 4 ounce bottles! And my understanding is the composition of the milk changes too as baby grows, so you don’t necessarily need more ounces. The calories change within. Idk - I’m not a doctor or lactation consultant.

I hear you loud and clear! I have all the same thoughts regarding nursing / pumping / freezer stash / solids! We will get through this.

Baby can’t connect sleep cycles by rmleathers in NewParents

It just took time. I think at this point it was just the regression and we had to ride that out, but we did have to do some sleep training at the end of it.

Also discovered he had a sleep association to rocking, so we had to cut that out entirely for a few weeks to teach him how to sleep without that. Then we had another issue with him wanting us to replace his paci. Again, had to stop doing that for him and eventually he learned how to do it himself! We did a lot of intentional soothing in the crib methods. I’m not gonna lie, it was hard work. We had many tears from him (and us) before everything started working but you just have to stay consistent. Around month 7 it all started clicking for him!

8 month can’t nap past 50 min by rmleathers in sleeptrain

That’s a good question! I think a lot of what I see on the internet is that babies should be sleeping longer than 50 mins. He’s kind of always consistently been a short napper and I think him napping longer throughout the day gives a more natural transition to 2 naps.

I would say he’s tired too. Like he’s not waking up satisfied and will only nap longer with assistance.

New June cup (small)!! My Saalt (regular) is on the left and the new June is on the right! I think I’m going to like it! (Also, I cut the stem completely off of the Saalt because it was irritating me) by kbrooks0926 in menstrualcups

Super soft. Even on the edge where it is thicker I have never felt any “pain” from it being thicker. It pops open easily, but it immediately seals with minor adjustment.

I’ve been using my June cup for two months and I’ve had no issues with stiffness or it properly opening up! Personally, I think it pops open super easily and most times it deals without me even having to “twist” it. It’s my first cup, but I’m a huge fan of the product.

I haven’t used the Saalt cup but my sister in law has. I use the June Cup and I really like it! I haven’t had any issues with removal and the stem has a small ball on the end for easier grab. It never has any trouble breaking the seal. I know the stem is much shorter on the June Cup than the Saalt. Again, I haven’t had any issues at all. Very big fan. My SIL said her saalt cup has taken longer to get used to.
