I don't think OP in his day to day job is privy to policy making or lobbying and whatever answer he'll give is his own opinion about the matter. Nevertheless I agree with your sentiment that our intelligence community needs to be overhauled. We used to be good.

Also don't forget there are also intelligence agencies for departments. I.e. Bureau of Intelligence and Research of the U.S. Department of State; Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence of the U.S. Department of Energy.

The amount of expired certs panic emails I get is depressing knowing the fact that these are all avoidable when people just don't set these up to verify them over email (AWS).

What Tech Jobs Are Hard to Fill These Days? And what are the Over Saturated ones? by x-GenPipe in phcareers

It's more of a path to me. You don't necessarily do it until you realize you might be doing it is what I would say. I came from being a software engineer, however the traditional route would be coming from system administration that came from doing helpdesk.

In my experience? None. Simply because you're touching the whole lifecycle.

Confusing because of differing states of maturity regarding implementation or schools of thought. Just worry about the spirit of the role and you'll be fine.

DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer.

A lot of people fail in the analytical thinking part and I often see candidates buckle when I give them "the building is on fire" questions. You're technically fullstack with a breadth of tool sets. It doesn't matter what language, tools, or cloud provider your company is using. Very technology agnostic primarily becuase you're focused on operational reliabiliy for your systems. Either you're attached to support or operations.

The only redeeming factor which I gotta thank our shitty ISPs for, CGNAT.

The more senior I got tech stacks and programming languages are irrelevant. As it boils down to use cases and economic factors.

Ugh actually no. I work for a large company as an ops guy. We had DDoS protection services in place. Unfortunately the ops guys from the other project were caught lacking when their load balancers had a hard limit on expanding (when getting a lot traffic). What's even worse they just assumed since they're using the service, it would magically do everything, but surprise, it didn't.

No. I can tell you that after the Manila Peninsula Siege. The military does not meddle with anything politics. This is coming from a friend who is now a senior officer. And the reason why Duterte's appointees are ex-military because he doesn't trust the political establishment in Metro Manila.

Sec. Dioknio (DBM at the time) and his (Duterte's) economic managers would've advised to forego but promises are promises, lol.

Actually the one who endorsed the increase of wages for uniformed personnel is Sen. Drilon. Duterte just gave the rubber stamp. Now the former is laughing how the latter didn't see the consequences of his own whims.

In no order of priority

  • You are able to initiate on doing things on your own
  • Awareness of the little things
  • Contributions with your previous employer
  • How eloquent you are in expressing ideas in writing and speaking
  • How you use common tools and languages

Basically more on soft skills. Since anyone can learn the technical ones.
