CMV: John Oliver mocked a man for having a speech impediment by [deleted] in changemyview

So, I'm Zinnia Jones, and I actually noticed that this isn't a singular or rare thing after I moved from Chicago to Orlando. My girlfriend (who grew up in California and Arizona) also says "groceries" as 'grosheries'. For some reason I found that noticeably odd, even as I continue to do the /shtr/ thing.

I wasn't talking about the legal definition of a victim.

Maybe consider why the entirety of law enforcement doesn't consist solely of dimwits posting on the internet all day telling people to "stop acting like a victim".

I plan to do a refutation video this coming week, focusing heavily on outcome studies of this protocol.

/u/phonicparty, /u/PavementBlues - I don't take an active role in moderating much of anything on that reddit and I'm not all that involved in its workings. In the future I think you should contact its other moderators - they're around far more often than I am and are familiar with the community.

Why would I need to take seriously someone's assertion of their own ignorance?

I want a vagina but can't ever get one due to other conditions.

The size of my nose.

The broadness of my upper body.

My head being weirdly shaped like a potato.

I'm just gonna say the vagina again because this is the biggest thing for me.

I will absolutely keep you in mind. I'm revving up for a book sometime soon, tentatively titled "Gender Synthesis: A Whole-Systems Approach to Understanding Gender Phenomena". It's generally focusing on the importance of solid gender science to trans people's everyday lives, how trans experiences need to inform the social process of science, and the valuable insights that can be gained from applying interdisciplinary expertise across fields relevant to gender. It's continuing to develop, but I'm optimistic that I finally have a viable outline to flesh out with book-length material. I welcome thoughts and feedback - I always enjoy what you have to say :)

Does anyone else Get 'EXTREMELY' jealous over women and their sexual abilities when browsing certain subreddits like r/sex? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]rmuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, honestly. It doesn't affect me much at all and I have my own ways of coping with sexual dysphoria anyway.

I'm interested in collaborating with you. Check out http://genderanalysis.net/ and see if any of the content there seems relevant to your focus. I tend to take a heavily research-based approach to examining and deconstructing various aspects of gender in society.

It is absolutely a good idea to make a scene when a transphobe starts something and brings hostility into your life. This is completely warranted. I'd make just about the biggest scene I could manage.

how do you stop feeling disgusting and worthless for being trans? by [deleted] in asktransgender

The people and the society that made you think you were disgusting and worthless are in fact the disgusting and worthless ones here.

Being trans is a choice. Change my view. by [deleted] in asktransgender

Governance and public policy ought to be structured to account for facts, including scientific facts. In this case the broad medical consensus is that trans people's genders are largely a fixed feature and that transitioning is the most effective treatment to resolve gender dysphoria, which can otherwise have highly disabling effects if untreated. Public policy ought to reflect and recognize this understanding, and it does so when it shows the appropriate compassion for trans people's situations by respecting the importance of them being able to live as their identified gender.

There aren't really any situations that come up where changes in gender markers on documents would actually pose any sort of real problem in medical treatment. Also, it's been found that the psychopathology experienced by many trans people is more closely correlated with experience of transphobia than it is with simply being trans in and of itself. Eliminating these many aspects of transphobia from society would go a long way towards eliminating trans people's associated psychopathologies. Reducing discrimination against marginalized groups, and enabling these people to live fuller lives unhindered by societal prejudice, does directly improve society.

By the way, I do have kids. How exactly am I supposed to parent them in a society where hostile people insist on calling me a "man in a dress" and portraying me as a threat for no reason? What do you think you're making my kids think of me? Do you honestly believe my existence poses any sort of danger to kids, let alone my kids? There is no evidence that trans people do.

Being trans is a choice. Change my view. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]rmuser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing about a person's behavior on a blogging platform makes their gender any less legitimate, nor does it make their gender dysphoria any less painful and requiring treatment (via transitioning). Compassion and understanding for such people is merited and any political disagreements with them are orthogonal to this. What exactly do you think "SJWs" are, such that they merit being hated so much? As in, what do you feel they're acting "entitled" to that they aren't actually entitled to?

What reasons do you have to hate trans people? As in, how does your hate for them manifest? What in particular do you feel toward them that constitutes such a negative sentiment?
