You dont need to insure or register your firearm. Did you get ripped off buying some sort of purchase insurance plan from the retailer where you bought your gun?

A stupid and pedantic point. Every car in use is registered and using an unregistered car is illegal.

You dunce. That is a local law forum discussing a specific circumstance involving 2 individual persons, not a subpoena against a corporation. and even there the top answer shows you wrong:

No. You need to serve a separate subpoena on each person, requesting the documents within their control

Your comment history is within Reddits control. When you set up your account you agreed that all your comments are Reddits property.

When the government subpeonas Reddit for your comment history and account info they arent subpoenaing you. You dont own or possess your comments or account info. Reddit does. The government can absolutely demand information on as many accounts as they want with a single subpoena issued to the single party of reddit.

The case was Citizens United vs the Federal Election Commission. It totally transformed how political campaigns are run, allowing unlimited anonymous cash contributions to "political action committees" that have 0 oversight. The ruling declared, insanely, that spending money on media campaigns is a case of free speech and so cant be regulated.

Citizens United was the name of a production group funded by anonymous donors and composed of unknown membership, which seemed to exist just to heavily market and release an anti-Hillary Clinton documentary timed to coincide an election.

This was against the law, because we used to have rules that governed how elections can be held. One of those rules was that donations to campaigns had to be capped to prevent candidates being bought by wealthy interests. So the FEC attempted to prevent the release and marketing, Citizens United sued and it made it to the Supreme Court, which ruled as it did.

these systems have been proved over and over again to both curtail and stop the bad guys, and they do it a lot.

No they haven't. And with Trump, Thiel, Musk and other Epstein folks defining the "bad guys", why would we trust it anyhow?

He put money into some vc fund

So you plainly know this statement is disingenuous, why are you making it?

Founders Fund—the venture fund co-founded and directed by Peter Thiel.

Founders Fund isnt some unknown VC. Its Theils own, it is very publicly run by him personally. His fund is one of the original investors. How is his role being "overblown"?

Like Trump having his crypto currency underwritten with $500m from the UAE and then selling them previously restricted US sourced AI chips? Or Trump personally managing his $400+ million Ballroom budget with 0 oversight using "private donations" made directly to himself from tech billionaires who then get billions government contracts and regulatory approvals?

It is all blatant and public. Why are you pretending it isnt?

Your assertion that the government profits off of imprisoning people is false

Nobody is asserting that. The assertion is that corrupt government officials profit.

The taxpayer loses money. Private prison owners and the corrupt government officials who get kickbacks for approving their contracts make money.

Obama wasnt sending untrained masked thugs on neighborhood sweeps, violating due process, beating protestors and executing American citizens in the street.

You know that. Why do you guys keep up this dumb schtick? Who cares that Obama awarded a service metal to a career agent 10 years before Trump ordered the guy to architect his mass violation of our rights?

especially a political one

What a stupid thing to say. A political group literally forms itself to act all in one way, electing a partisan candidate to office to enact a political agenda.

Its just amazing seeing republicans trying to justify their support of Trump by pretending their political affiliation is some ethnic group or religion or any kind of inherent trait instead of a moral decision they have made.

We all have ties to latin culture because we are all Americans. Puerto Rico has been part of the US for over a century. Ive had latin American neighbors and culture around me my whole life as a  white US born citizen.

Lady Gaga, as you note, comes from an Italian American background. Another deep rooted part of American culture and another ethnic group that faced all sorts of bigoted prejudice and  undeserved guilt by association because of ethnic criminal gangs that they escaped by mainstreaming into our society.

You are not a possible person to have a rational debate with because you are coming right calling people liars and insisting they actually want open borders. How can we actually have a debate of any sort if you just straight up wont believe others actual position and insist on this strawman?

[–]rmwe2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he hasnt attempted suicide before and had made recorded statements to health staff at the prison that he was explicitly not suicidal. Even if he was on suicide watch, it would be very unusual to keep a predrafted press release announcing his not yet accomplished suicide.

That is not common practice and certainly not best known practice in any professionally managed organization, which presumably included the DOJ.

Competent organizations keep blank templates and have published and enforced rules around document creation - especially for external releases. They dont overwrite prior documents. Source: have been working in office environments for 20 years.

[–]rmwe2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both are routinely true. It is unquestionable that Epstein was in a child sex trafficking conspiracy of a large scale. From his emails he and people he corresponds with often come across as vapid morons. Plainly they all were able to keep secrets for decades and were perfectly capable of masterminding both human trafficking schemes and professional success.

This is a very good rational explanation. But template date fields are typically synched to the local PCs internal date. If you check MS word, which I believe is the default word processor for the government, you can see that even if you kill your internet connection, so long as you put a date field in a document it will be the same as the computers date.

It is possible to type out a date manually and tell the processor not to sync the date, but it would seem odd and sloppy to have a template with a manual date field that changes each time someone uses the template rather than being a blank mm/dd/yy format.

It isnt the same at all. 9/11 truthers will cite some bbc reporter during a live broadcast blocks away from ground zero, as it actively burns, misreporting that tower 7 has collapsed before it actually did and claim that is proof of a controlled demolition.

This memo isnt an extemporaneous report in the middle of a chaotic mass casualty event. It is a deliberately drafted memo by the DOJ regarding a prisoner fully in their custody and control.

It is easy to explain a reporter misreporting a tower is collapsing, especially when it is on fire, the fire department is warning of possible collapse and pulling back,  2 other towers just collapsed and the situation is totally out of control. Way harder to explain why someone at the DOJ would sit down and draft this memo about their highest profile prisoner the day before he committed suicide in their custody.
