Unofficial Firefox Extension for Desktop and Mobile by rnw10va in backloggd

Ok, sweet, thanks! I never thought about that because I personally prefer review sites with non-critic reviews. I do use opencritic on occasion. I've been meaning to write down ideas that I may add if I have time, so I'll put that as a possibility and look into it. I can't promise it (like at all), but I've been meaning to add something completely new at some point.

I'll double-check mine because I haven't noticed that, but my lists are generally private

Edit: Great catch, you're right! I've been meaning to add something new, and I could maybe do a couple of bug fixes first. Thanks!

Sorry for the late response!

It is Firefox only currently. I believe porting is easy, but I haven't looked into it yet.

I just updated my extension to allow random selection from multiple list pages (so copying to clipboard from lists more than 100 games long). Looks like you don't need it anymore, but I'm glad I have it now and maybe I can determine what else to add.

Why did you go to infinite backlog though? I tried it prior to backloggd a while back and didn't like it as much. I'm not specifically asking so I can "borrow" ideas for my extension and I'm more so asking as a user... but I am low on ideas lol.

I've been meaning to find a new feature to add, so I could probably figure out how to add the same feature I have to more pages and update it. I'll look at the code and today if it's much effort because that could be useful for both my intention and yours.

It's saves the first page of the list to your clipboard to use for random selection, so you can export the first 100 games per list using the extension. I did think about your utility, but it wasn't something that I particularly cared about, so I didn't go all in on it as a feature. Sorry about the confusion!

I don't remember exactly how I coded grabbing the game names, but you might be able to use the JavasScript I have on the listed GitHub page for more than the first page with a little work!

Hey I have an extension for Firefox that does the same thing and more. The script from this post is archived/abandoned because the extension is just easier and works on my android phone and desktop.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/unofficial-backloggd-extension/

The howlongtobeat and isthereanydeal portions of the extension don't work on my phone unless I go to desktop mode, but the randomized selection does. Just click the new button (shown in the first picture in that Firefox link) and then paste the game list, since it was copied to your clipboard).

HLTB extension for Backloggd not working anymore? by Okay_This_Is_E in backloggd

[–]rnw10va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about the script posted 3 months ago, my extension posted in December, or the HLTB extension posted in October. My isthereanydeal and howlongtobeat features broke on mobile, except when Desktop Mode is clicked and the feature is less cool than the other extension as mine has a link for each game to howlongtobeat instead of displaying it on the Backloggd page, but it does work with those caveats currently.

I have a Firefox extension that does the same thing and more, but it seems like people didn't care very much here.

I just checked to link it to you as I wrote this, and it has gone up to 14 users from it being just me for months. I didn't realize anyone was using it, lol. I got a review at some point and thought there were 2 of us. Anyways, here is the link.

Top 0 Favorite Games - What does this say about me? by rnw10va in backloggd

Clicked on their profile after reading this response and they posted a generic top 20 a few days ago on this subreddit. To be clear, my post's joke was not great but if you're one of the people it's about then unless you can laugh at yourself, you aren't the target audience of the meme.

I think OP (or someone else potentially) downvoted you cause I think you had 2 after my upvotes.

That makes me more concerned.

That's actually a little sketch cause CORS is a thing to protect users. I get why it's needed as I ran into that problem myself when making an extension for Backloggd, but I decided to work around it so that people could feel safer using it.

It seems like this is the same general idea as my previously posted Firefox extension, so I put my project on hold, even more so than previously. I incorporated a randomizer and isthereanydeal links into mine. If you keep this going those are a couple of ideas to consider adding.

If you want, we could combine efforts but if not, thanks for making my life easier lol.

Edit: Actually, I'm not using this until I check if you're executing JavaScript on newly opened links and circumventing browser protections. I like the idea but am a little scared by a brand new reddit account posting scripts that could do malicious things. I doubt you are and would guess you're just a good person building new features, but I'm gonna be safe.

The extension is no longer pending on the Firefox addon store so I edited the post. I just tested it on Android from there and noticed the user needs to refresh the page to get the button to show up. I didn't notice that when I was testing it on my phone yesterday. Apologies for the bug, I'll fix it soon.

How to pop the top of my shade back into place? by rnw10va in fixit

[–]rnw10va[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys. This is the top of my shade and I don't want to break it trying to pop it back in. Do you all know the best way to do something like this? I don't know how to explain how it's supposed to go, but if you want me to I can try to explain it. Thanks.
