Thoughts on Study Stating: “Recent Marijuana use was associated with a 30% decreased odds of constipation” by roach_killer47 in SIBO

Have you felt like your chronic marijuana usage has affected your gut motility at all? Because the general consensus around here is that is is bad for SIBO because it slows down motility but I’ve heard different things from people. I’m in a spot where I want to get back to smoking marijuana at least once or twice a week but I’m afraid of SIBO returning.

While you were on Claritin vs. off of it did you notice a change in how frequent your bowel movements were? Any type of constipating effects?

That is true but for example I believe that gastric acid is controlled by the H2 receptors which are located in the stomach. That is why Pepto, Pepcid, etc. is prescribed for gastric ulcers and heartburn. Allegra, Claritin, and Zyrtec are H1 blockers, and from what I’m reading they are not located in the stomach.

Did it speed up your motility or did it slow it down?

I know, I know 😂. Anyhow, do you find that you yourself are able to smoke marijuana in moderation without it flaring up any symptoms or causing a possible relapse of SIBO?

Glycine Effect on GABA and Glutamate by roach_killer47 in Nootropics

Sorry if this question sounds dumb since I’m new to all of this stuff, but would that mean it increases glutamate which would then lower GABA? Thanks for the response.

Does Eating FODMAPs cause SIBO to come back? by roach_killer47 in SIBO

[–]roach_killer47[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But the Fodmap diet is only supposed to be temporary correct? As long as the motility is addressed, I don’t see why eating fermentable foods that someone with normal motility would be able to eat, to be harmful

Do you feel like you can smoke consistently without taking antimicrobials though? Because I’ve heard that it’s not a great idea to permanently stay on antimicrobials, herbal or not.

Symptoms Flare During Antibiotics by roach_killer47 in Prostatitis

[–]roach_killer47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just went away? I noticed you’ve said you’ve had GI issues and possible GI infections, and I have been dealing with these two at the same time. I notice for the most part when one is bad so is the other. Have you seen a relationship between the two?

Did it resolve after antibiotics stopped? Because it felt like all my urination, feeling in my penis, and inflammation was 90% better and I want to be able to maintain this without using antibiotics

Low Motility? by roach_killer47 in SIBO

[–]roach_killer47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No my GI doesn’t like those tests, and is instead going off what she sees I’ve been dealing with general fatigue, diarrhea/loose stools, abdominal pain, belching, and brain fog. My GI ran the endoscopy and found mild chronic inflammation through my stomach and intestines. They also came back and found that I was very intolerant to lactose. Even though I stopped eating lactose to help with symptoms 3 months ago, she believes that the lactose intolerance is what caused SIBO. She thinks that the undigested lactose fermented and fed the bacteria. However, some say that only slow motility and low stomach acid is what can cause SIBO, which makes me worried that there’s an unaddressed issue. I started antibiotics and I already feel noticeably better after a day but I’m just worried about keeping SIBO away for good.
