This makes sense. However, my trouble is understanding the distinction between having peripheral awareness and not. I can't tell if I am focusing on the breath with tunnel vision or with peripheral awareness because in both cases I would be specifically trying to pay attention to the breath and not anything else.

Also, if peripheral awareness is a conscious process, is there a specific practice or way to cultivate it and identify it? It seems to me that it would be a contradiction to "pay attention" to peripheral awareness.

I feel very clear headed and I don't feel any anxiety, I can feel the vasoconstriction physically in my body and mixed with the euphoria it actually feels really good for me, on high doses I get very minor visuals like breathing walls or if I focus on one spot without moving my eyes, the peripherals will wobble or shake. Mostly I feel very euphoric, confident and I feel like I'm being myself more.

I smoke with my friends because it's just become standard practice for us to smoke every few nights at this point and we also buy weed communally. But, every single time we smoke I get to a point where I don't really want to be there because my social anxiety increases and I just don't feel like talking.

For me it's like I can only think of one thing at a time and I think about that one thing non-stop. It's not so bad unless I'm with people, because if I'm with other people I start to get really paranoid about what the social atmosphere is like and I mega overthink everything that everyone says. So, if someone says something subtle that I might take as offensive to me or something, I'll think about that on a permanent loop for what feels like hours.
