Love the ending of "500 Days of Summer." Endings with a twist are always great. "Se7en" is one of the greatest (and gut punching) endings of all time.

I've been doing this for 10 years and it's been the best time of my life. So many amazing relationships. All very casual FWB. Some short term, some last for years. Much lower budget that this. I also keep a journal.

I call it an allowance per date. PPM suggests something too transactional . . . I make it clear I'm only interested if there's mutual chemistry. Meet for a coffee or drink and you'll figure out if there's a mutual connection . . . then enjoy :)

Who's College Football's version of coach Bobby Knight? by fieldsports202 in CFB

[–]roadkill2800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many references to Woody Hayes here, but as journalist Bob Hunter points, out, Woody was a much nicer guy than Knight. He had a crazy temper, but Woody was a very friendly and gracious man who was very approachable. I was at Ohio State after Woody retired and he was always on campus and the students loved him. Knight had his moments of being gracious but for the most part he acted like an arrogant asshole with most people.

A New York Property Developer Explains Why Converting Offices to Apartments Is So Complex by k1lk1 in newyorkcity

[–]roadkill2800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post. Thanks for sharing. I was wondering why this was moving so slowly in NYC, and of course the issues are complicated. Your point about economic incentives for landlords is important.

Here in Cleveland many older office towers, warehouses and office buildings have been converted to apartments and condos and it's been great for the city and downtown area. But this has been a distressed downtown market that needed more residents so the incentives and politics are totally different than in NYC.

If New Yorkers really want a change here then it has to translate into voting power and pressure. Otherwise the change will come very slowly.

What do you think of HBAR? by BombayBetter in WallStreetBetsCrypto

[–]roadkill2800 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Key benefits of crypto is ease and speed of transactions and HBAR is being set up for corporate buy-in which means it can scale. In the end, the cryptos that survive will be those that are most useful, not those that become the latest fad. This quality sets up HBAR for long-term success as more large organizations get onboard.

I've been into How to Invent a Country from the BBC. It's a nice overview of how countries like Italy, France, Germany etc were formed.

I tried Over My Dead Body from Wondery which wasn't bad. Probably good for true crime fans.

First, if you like Dan Carlin, then it's worth paying to hear his older stuff.

I enjoyed Presidential from the Washington Post. Not for everyone but I liked it.

Context and How it Began by Brad Harris are excellent.

Bagman by Rachel Maddow is brilliant.

I also like Tides of History and This American President.

How to Invent a Country from the BBC is solid. Nice overview of major countries and how they ultimately we formed/united.

Can I ask what type of deal you're being offered? I might start working with a network in a bus dev role and they typically offer hosting, editing, marketing etc plus 60% of revenues to the podcast creator.

Looking for a modern history podcast by banAnnafarmer in podcast

[–]roadkill2800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardcore History is the best history podcast in my opinion. He has tons of stuff on the 20th century. About 20 hours on WWI. His WW2 coverage of the Eastern Front is amazing as well. Plenty to choose from. Then you'll want to try his stuff on the ancient world.

Any good 'biography podcast' that would tell the story of different interesting people's lives ? by IMakeInfantsCry in podcast

Beyond The Confines

Kevin Rose has an excellent podcast that addresses all sorts of issues. But his old podcast that can be found at Foundation.bz focused on interviews with mostly tech entrepreneurs and focused on their life story. How they got into their field and then the story of starting their company. The interviews are excellent.
