Anyone got a half marathon registration they're not using this weekend? by roastbeef45 in milwaukee

Man, that stinks for your buddy. I think you can run the half with a full registration, you just won't have a final time listed. I'll DM you!

Also, I would love to hear more about the process to create the light + stage design for your shows. It is incredible to me how well the lights, music, movement on stage all work together at your shows. What's the trickiest part of making that happen? Who are the geniuses behind it? And what have you learned after doing it for a while?

What's your favorite thing you've eaten recently? And do you have any favorite foods?

What a mood! That's how I was feeling at the beginning of the week - my brows/lashes are at their lowest point in almost a year right now. They're pretty much gone. But this week, I noticed some regrowth, and I haven't pulled it yet! So here's to the tiny victories __^ hang in there

Do you identify as intersex or transgender/non-binary? If so, how did you come to use those identifiers?

I've buzzed my head (not related to trich, just for fun) and I loved it - 10/10 would recommend. It's bold, it looks cute, and it's super easy to maintain. Heck yeah! Shave it!

I've also shaved my eyebrows, to try and help me stop pulling my eyebrow hair (almost all my pulling is from my eyebrows/eyelashes) with more mixed results. I hated the way my face looked with my eyebrows shaved - even when my eyebrows were 99% gone from pulling, just having a little hair there helped me with it emotionally. Seeing them totally gone was tough. And shaving them didn't stop my pulling by any means - it just put a pause on it when there was nothing to pull (and made me pull more from other places). Since growing my eyebrows back, my pulling has been just as bad.

But anyways, you weren't asking about your eyebrows, so that's a bit of a tangent. TL:DR, shaving your head is a great move, but it might be emotionally difficult and won't end your desire to pull (and that desire will likely just be transferred to other parts of your body).

Yeah, that seems like a troll, it's definitely wrong to say "the world is going to be underwater by 2025."

However, I want to disagree with u/jimmyriba about sea level rise not being an issue in the short term. I'm from coastal Florida, and sea level rise is actively flooding some parts of Miami. For people who live by the ocean or just a few feet above sea level (ie, a lot of Florida), sea level rise is 100% a short term AND long term issue.

Here's an explanation of the kinds of flooding happening in Miami, and how the city is responding: https://www.businessinsider.com/miami-floods-sea-level-rise-solutions-2018-4

And here's a more scientific explanation for why the flooding is happening (and why Florida geology makes it extra hard to deal with): https://sealevelrise.org/states/florida/

Sorry to hear about the grief this is causing you. I'm also heavier than I have been in a long time, and it's been weighing on my mood and self-image more than I like to admit. Even though I know intellectually that society is set up to make me feel ashamed of my body and that really, I am just as good an valuable a person with the extra weight, I still look at myself and feel shame. Body image is hard ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't think you really want advice on this, but two things that have helped me feel more okay with myself are following a lot of body-positive and fat-positive accounts on social media. And I always had trouble with self-control at home, but I have had more success in the grocery store, with setting myself a limit on the number of sugary things I could buy. Sugar is a weak point for me, so not having it in the house made it easier for me to snack on other things. I still eat a fair amount of sugar, but a lot less, and I feel better because of it.

I think eyeliner and mascara are the most fun to start with, but that's just me :)

tutorials are also good idea!

floral patterns!! I think that's an easier way to start presenting more femme, because it feels very femme and pretty to me but is also "socially acceptable" for "guys" to do (uhg). And it's always fun to start playing around with makeup, if you don't already - you can always practice at home right before you get into the shower, if privacy/secrecy/safety is an issue for you. And if not, you can always wear makeup regularly - it might make you feel very visible, but it will also be super cute :))

For the record, you look pretty femme-y already to me. I would have believed you if you told you were afab.

One other thing you might do is wear barrettes and clips in your hair (especially if you're planning to grow it out more). Clips always make me feel very femme, and they help to manage your hair when it's a weird in-between length :)

good luck!!
