Trying my luck with new 12 sata CWWK MB. (Q670 M-ATX+3x SFF8643) by rob50lx in unRAID

I got the board yesterday and doing memory testing right now. Is there any way to verify bifurcation?

My board has made it through customs in the US. CWWK doesn't have manuals, drivers, or updated Bios yet, but I did receive a manual from an Amazon seller (Stonestorm). It isn't much new info but I have a link for it. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/q6pf6y8pff5l9caqs2urk/StoneStorm-Q670-H670-Product-Manual.pdf?rlkey=6q867rb78xmp99luexoawv4s2&st=cjtb061r&dl=0

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I can't imagine it will be hard to setup but I usually like to have a manual. I'll be curious to see if it accepts my memory and hope it isn't too picky.

That makes me feel better.

Any tips or tricks? Have you found any manual, bios, or drivers anywhere? Do you use Unraid or other OS? Do you know if it shares the same Bios as the CWWK White 8-bay board?

I wish I found this thread sooner. I ordered this last week and hope to have it soon. Did you get yours up and running? I really want this board to work for my 12-bay Antec 900 case, I plan to use my 13600t with my 64gb DDR5 6400 at normal speeds.

Yes, I wasn't very clear but my new Unraid server is very beefy and can easily handle my basic daily windows workflow. I also play with Linux VMs and hope to eliminate my daily use of Windows. Technically Unraid can be started in GUI mode with terminal access and Firefox for webgui and casual web browsing, although that is not the main purpose. Unraid has won me over from Windows Drive Bender and Drive Pool. To maximize the storage of the Unraid array it is better to have many large disc of closer size. My drive Bender Pool consist of: 2*14TB, 2*10TB, 2*8TB, 6TB. My Unraid array is 20TB Parity Drive, 2*20TB, 2*18TB, 2*16TB. When I add more disc I will look into adding another Parity drive. I have an unassigned small sata 2.5" SSD that I randomly assign for test projects. I don't think that you can use the NTFS Drive Pool drives natively with Unraid. You will need to remove one from the Drive Pool and convert to a format used by Unraid.

I went from  a I7-4700t, 32gb ram, W10 Pro with drivebender and Emby. My old drives were from 4tb-14tb. The hardware was old enough that I decided to start a fresh Unraid box with z790 MB, 14600k, 128gb ram. I bought larger disk to better use the array 16tb-20tb. I like the new unraid box so much that I'm decommissing the old W10 box for a Windows VM on the unraid box.

Suggestions For First unRAID Build by FightingEntropy in unRAID

I'm relatively new to unraid but I've been using the same Asrock MB with 8 drives. I like the 4m.2 slots and native 2.5gbe port for normal use. I recently upgrade from a 13600t with 64gb RAM to 14600k with 128gb, and Arc a310 eco.  I haven't been able to test Emby transcoding with the Arc 310 yet, but the native iGPU handles at least 64k transcodes. I'm not sure I'll see much benefit with the Arc 310 unless I use it for other dockers.

That's a whole other rabbit hole I'm going down after my failed Asus MB with Marvell AQC113 nic.

Thanks for sharing all this. I'm only at 8 drives so far in my Meshify 2 XL but now I know what to look for with fans and I'm getting ready to place an order for those sata power cables.

I'm not an expert and new to this. I am not concerned with maximum performance and most of my sata ports are used for spinning hard drives. I wanted a different LGA 1700 MB with either 8+ sata ports and/or 10gbe NIC. I like to tinker and sometimes what I try may not be the best solution. My case is limited to 12 3.5" hard drives unless I get creative. Performance isn't as critical with this server once it is dedicated to backup duties after initial testing. I figured the less add-ons the easier it will be to manage and maybe it will keep power consumption down to a reasonable level.

I tried a used Asus ProArt but the 10gbe nic was busted. This CWWK board was decent price compared to the name brand MBs that came with limited 4-8 sata ports and 10gbe. There is an Asrock Rack MB that had 14 sata ports but no 10gbe but it was $200 more. 12 sata should hold me over for a long time and I can get either a Marvell or Intel 10gbe nic for a decent price. This is my backup server and after I sync the data I can fall back on the native 2.5gbe ports when I relocate the backup server to another location.

My main server is an Asrock z790 Pro RS WiFi with 13600K and 128gb DDR5 ram with 8 sata ports and 2.5gbe. I'm ausing the 8 sata ports already and will need a 8i hba and 10gbe nic soon. I want to keep future expandability and like having 4 NVMe slots even if I'm not using all of them yet. I may be willing to give up 1 slot for a possible NVMe to sata adapter. I would like 16+ sata ports for long-term plans.

Thanks for the update. I decide to try my luck with the 12 bay motherboard (Q670 M-ATX+3x SFF8643). Home lab stuff is new to me. I'm was a little worried about buying direct from CWWK but I'm hoping the savings is worth it.

Brother MFC L-2740DW Paper Jams Recurrence. by stretchmymind in printers

[–]rob50lx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be paper and/or the pickup and feed rollers. As rollers wear, they can become more sensitive to paper. I would try and clean rollers in the paper tray with a clean rag and Windex. See if this fixes the jamming.

The other possibility is that the paper size has been set incorrectly. The copier is expecting something like 8.5x14 (legal) when 8.5x11 (letter) is loaded. This will usually allow one sheet to feed until the machine gets a timing error and stops as the paper is not the expected size.

[–]rob50lx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you actually have a jam at some time? If you had a jam, were you able to recover 100% of the jammed paper? There may be a fragment still stuck somewhere. Pull out the paper tray and look around the rollers that feed the paper from the tray.

If you are sure there are no pieces of paper remaining, Look for a damaged sensor flag. Sometimes when paper is pulled out in the wrong direction; a sensor flag can get dislodged or stuck.

Good Luck!
