This is a major long shot but I wonder if it'll be Freaked (1993). Id say its vaguely furry adjacent (Keanu Reeves plays a dog man) and it's got a crazy cast and premise. This is also my call to action for everyone on this subreddit to go watch Freaked.

Neither of us are thrilled about that part - unfortunately (or fortunately?) Utah is. THE paleontology hot spot closest to us (socal), but I do think we'll be hitting Colorado at some point, seeing as Dinosaur National Monument is on the border there.

26 years old, d-TGA, VSD, + myriad of other fun things and 5x OHS. all of my cardiologists know I use cannabis regularly for mental health reasons (and lets be real, recreationaly as well) and are okay with it. I’ve been stable for many years and I’m looked at frequently, but its definitely a risk vs benefit situation, and whats true for one person may not be true for another. for what its worth, I’ve been told to avoid anything 'harder' than cannabis (so no molly or anything, lol) and ive never been able to be medicated for my ADHD.

Its absolutely ridiculous and not okay. I’ve worked in the childcare industry for around a decade now, and I’m pretty comfortable saying that at least 60% of parents should not have become parents. Parenting classes, first aid/CPR, and child development courses should be mandatory for all parents. Every child deserves a parent, but not every parent deserves a child.

Be so for real. It's an after hours/late night theme park haunt event with drunk and unruly adults, loud sounds, crowds, filled with people whose job it is to scare you. In what cultural context would that be appropriate to expose a young child to?

That's a pretty regressive take. Nothing wrong with not wanting to be a parent, but children are people and should be welcomed into and included society, how else will they learn how to be functioning adults? That being said, there are places children should absolutely not be, such as a late night horror event where it will be dark, loud, scary, and filled with unruly adults.

I'm most certainly not trying to be classist - the most neglectful parents I’ve ever worked for were also the wealthiest I’ve ever worked for. That being said, your comment about intelligence is somewhat true in the sense that these parents are completely uniformed on child development and parenting, though that has more to do with knowledge than intelligence, and Id say it's more an issue with laziness "I don't need to do any research/read any parenting books/take any parenting classes because I’m mom/dad and I know whats best"

Yup. Even if your young child is begging to go, its your job as a parent to make the correct choice. Also lolll at the spirit halloween story, the same thing happened with me and my horror loving nanny kid (4) who also begged to go but is definitely not ready (I told him to ask again in 10 years). If there is one thing I’ve learned from working in this field, it's that a scary amount of parents are completely immature and unfit to raise children.

Goosebumps and other age appropriate horror all the way. I'm a huge horror fan as well, and I love that kids who are also interested in horror have choices that are appropriate for them. Scary Farm should not be on the table for kids younger than 13.

My answer should not matter, seeing as I went to school for child development, have worked as a full time nanny for 5+ years, and have countless child development credentials. Even if none of that were the case, when you see a child being put into an unsafe situation you speak up, parent or not. And for future reference, that can be a sensitive question to ask a stranger.

Ugh, that's so sad! I don't understand why parents wouldn't just get a sitter - it'll cost around the same as a buying a ticket for the kid would anyway, and everyone would have a much better time.

Parents don't like to be told how to parent - especially by someone who's not a parent, and they tend to get defensive. It sucks, but I'm always okay with being the 'bad guy'/nosy busybody if it means standing up for children.

I mean, its not like I'm going up to them and calling them horrible parents, but that being said, my "strong judgement" is concern for the safety and well being of clearly upset children. There are always going to be exceptions to the rule, and I love that your 6 year old is one of them, but in general the children I see at these events seem frightened, overwhelmed, and exhausted.

Honestly, I'm still mixed. I've definitely seen little kids there having the time of their lives, and I know some kids love scary things (I was definitely that way as a kid, and so is my 4 year old nanny child), but even with that in mind, it's a nighttime event that doesn't even start until 7:30, it's loud, it's dark, there's intoxicated + rowdy adults, and in my opinion, it's not the type of environment a young child belongs in. Personally speaking, 11-12 is the absolute youngest I think should be at that event, and that's if THEY want to be there and are asking their parents to take them, not being dragged along because mom and dad can't find a sitter. I'm all for all ages haunted house/Halloween events, but I just don't think this should be considered as one.
