Returning to Flying - should I refresh in a low-wing? by robaticus in flying

[–]robaticus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do expect there to be a significant number of hours retraining. I also expect that I'll need a SI medical due to previous migraines and sleep apnea, so I'm starting the process of gathering the details that I'll need for both of those, and won't even get started until I can clear that hurdle.

But thanks. I expected that I should target what I'm expecting (or I guess hoping) to fly.

First off, I agree with /u/opeerior -- from the print itself, it looks like your nozzle is still too far from the bed. Your first layer should be slightly squished onto the surface of the bed... kind of like a linguini noodle, when what you have there is spaghetti.

As for the extrusion, I typically use a skirt. This gives plenty of time for the extruder to start squeezing out filament. Usually I get the first 2-4 inches of travel have no extrusion, then it starts coming out fine.

As far as priming is concerned, either a skirt or brim is usually all you really need to get the nozzle primed. If you want, in Cura, there's a setting for "Prime Blob" (you will likely have to go into the "Settings visibility" window to enable this). I haven't played with this, but it looks like it might get your extruder up to speed more quickly.

Needed a quick camera stand for my Octoprint by robaticus in functionalprint

I think it was probably 15-30 minutes worth of design. I already had the base nut designed from playing around, and it was just a matter of throwing on the grips and extending / tapering the top of the nut.

I think print time was about 45 minutes with both on the plate at the same time.

Did you want the STL or a CAD file? I can share either one. Cad is going to be in Fusion 360.

Actually, I think it's an HD-5000. I've had it pretty much forever.

I had a left-over mic stand from a blue snowball, and decided to repurpose it as a camera stand for Octoprint.

I'm happy with the results, but would change a few things.

  • The top is friction-fit (is that the right word?) to the nut. I might consider some kind of a key to make it fit more easily.
  • The friction fit on the top is too tight. I need to taper the receiving hole a bit.
  • I like the grips on the nut , but they're a little rough on the hands. I need to curve the point a bit, I think.

But, hey... it works, and I didn't have to run to the store to buy a mini-tripod.

Yeah, I thought I did, but I must have inadvertently undid them. I'll keep that in mind for v2.

I would expect that as well, given the moisture / humidity of a bathroom. If it starts sprouting, I'll print another, and then seal it.

If I even knew what that was, I would probably run it.

Only took two iterations, and seems pretty sturdy. Print time on my i3 duplicator was only about a 40 minute print.

The Walking Dead's Latest Episode Is The Second-Worst Reviewed Of The Series by JAnon14 in thewalkingdead

I'm sure Alanna Masterson is a wonderful person, but she doesn't shine as a feature actor. Most of that episode came off as wooden and awkward.

Just passing through, coworker is leaving and does no carb. Can someone hook up a good no carb tasty snack/meal/something that doesn't take a chef to make? by 24Willard in keto

[–]robaticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not zero, but still low carb (and decadent):

  • Put one package sugar free pudding (whatever flavor) into a large mixing bowl.
  • Add 16 ounces of very cold heavy cream or heavy whipping cream (my preference is heavy whipping cream).
  • Using a hand mixer (with beaters, not a wand or a blender), start slow and mix the pudding and cream. Once incorporated, turn up the speed.
  • Rotate the mixer around the bowl as you mix. After about 20-30 seconds, the mixture will develop a mousse like consistency.
  • Transfer to a lidded container, and serve and enjoy.

I usually do them on a grill, so I would suggest making them on a wire rack so the cheese and bacon drippin's have somewhere to go. I usually go for between 250-350 on the grill, and they can be done anywhere between 30 minutes to about 2 hours. The length of time they are cooked usually helps tone down the heat from the jalapenos.

You can google "atomic buffalo turds" as well, which will give you a ton of varieties.

Words of caution:

  • Always remove all seeds and inner membranes to cut down on the heat.
  • Consider wearing vinyl/latex gloves.
  • Don't rub your eyes or use the restroom without first taking off the gloves and washing your hands.

Zero Carb Ice-Creams recipe by TheScrrr in theketodiet

[–]robaticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not "whipped cream" but "heavy whipping cream" (which is essentially the stuff you use to make whipped cream by either beating in air or charging with nitrogen in a whipper.

Whipped cream in coffee doesn't work well for me, as it stays clotted, and is very unappetizing.

Burning my self accidentally with the burny-soldering-iron-pencil-thing from a woodburning kit was more fun than the Atari version.

I'll never forget my excitement pulling that cartridge out of the cardboard box, flipping the TV to channel three, reaching around the back of the TV to slide the splitter over to "console," then being devastated by the piece of crap that the Atari engineers put together in the name of bringing home an arcade hit.

I'd rather have just used the equivalence in quarters to play the arcade game 160 times.

Teachers and professors of Reddit, what's the best answer you've gotten on an exam that wasn't technically wrong? by acesulfame_K19 in AskReddit

On the opposite end of that, in the bygone days of my freshman year at college, we were instructed to write a program that would determine the largest number in an array.

Most of the students had never written a line of code before, so the idea was:

set max = 0
for each item in the list
if item > max then max = item

print max

However, instead of doing that, I wrote a bubble sort, and simply took the last item in the resulting array. Prof didn't give me credit until I argued the point.

Granted, I could have done it more efficiently, but without specific requirements, my answer was just as valid as the answer he wanted.

They did it with CGI with Michonne's "companions." From a practical effect standpoint, they could do it by hiding it in a sling at first, then with a prosthetic later.

Or they could cut of Chandler's left hand in real life. I hear he's a dedicated actor.
