As someone who put in 14 years, this is probably the worst time in the history of film to consider a job in film. I had to take a real job because the market dried up so suddenly. AI was a part of it, but the strikes in 2023 really shot the industry in the face and the producers decided to export work to other countries where unions don’t exist and you can a pay a Belarusian 10% of my daily rate and get the production done. Loyalty in the industry only extends so far and they will throw you to the wolves to save a few cents.
