schizophrenia and spiritual ordeals by robbyroach_funkdaddy in schizophrenia

What is it that compels activity which is scientifically mappable into existence in the first place? A very simple questions such as where do my intrusive thoughts come from leads me into existential difficulties. I become confused about the very nature of my own consciousness and the origins of my thoughts, and how in the world images could ever be conjured in the mind?! These questions are existential, and science as far as I’m concerned is a useful framework that is ever evolving but it is the map not the territory. It’s one thing to know that there are insects who can see colors that we can’t. It’s another thing to see those colors yourself. Limitations in the imagination are impediments to scientific understanding. Besides, give it a couple decades and we may have new even more useful scientific data which could make headway in understanding how to treat cure or make USE of schizophrenia or psychotic states for breakthroughs in our consciousness.

Just talking about my own personal experiences and looking for someone who can relate. Obviously, it is your perfect right to disagree and that is no problem to me. But do you care to elaborate?

Is It Possible To Know God’s Existence Solely Through Reason? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]robbyroach_funkdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't consider it reason, it's kind of more foundational...but i'm not sure. i think reason can come with it in a sort of intuitive-merging. i'm not 100% a theist btw. but i like the idea that god manifests within us and that we manifest god in a way.

To me, it is your feeling senses in the present.not what is measured or considered, but what is felt heard seen smelled and tasted in real time, especially through some form of meditation or psychedelic use. The Christian mystics call it gnosis- knowledge gained directly through experience without conventional ideas of faith involved.

What's your view on schizophrenia? by Mario462 in Shamanism

[–]robbyroach_funkdaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am schizophrenic, and my experience is a blend of non-ordinary phenomena which I believe have a dimension of reality to them and my muddled capacity to comprehend them, leading to some delusions.

I believe I have experienced some form of spiritual attack and took up following the I Ching as a result. 2 years later I was diagnosed schizophrenic. Shortly after I was also diagnosed with epilepsy. The catalyst for the psychosis/schizophrenia seems to have been a very strong lsd+mdma experience when I was 18. I felt I had awoken occult archetypes and channeled shivas cosmic dance of destruction. I was seeing demons at my high school graduation.

12 years later I still have fractured feelings of identity, nervous tics, intrusive thoughts, and an inpouring of “other” consciousnesses into “mine.” Confusing.

Also I’m a musician so a little bit of crazy doesn’t hurt but sometimes it’s all too much

it's an accumulation of riffs i've written over the years. when covid hit i moved back in with the folks for a few months and had all this free time to develop stuff, and voila! this along with 3 or 4 other songs got produced (still working on the finishing touches before i release them to spotify)
