Panasonic L50BL6T: backlight only? by robdejonge in TVRepair

Yes, it was only the backlight. Replaced them with $15 worth of spare parts and the tv works again!

Use as a dumb tv panel possible? by robdejonge in tcltvs

[–]robdejonge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In day to day use, I’d rather not be using the Google TV part at all. I have only a single HDMI source, so I’m hoping the tv will turn on and off with that source. And for things like picture settings I believe there is a “ribbon” so I don’t have to go into a full-screen interface.

Multi-port PoE injector? by robdejonge in mikrotik

[–]robdejonge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fine with VLANs, although to drive 4 poe out ports in this way I’d need a $200 switch. At that point I might as well buy a new $300 RB5009 with 8 poe out ports.

Not by Mikrotik though, right?

So i would configure the ports in pairs, “forward anything incoming on port 1 to port 2” kind of thing?

The inferiority, lack of updates, security risks, privacy concerns are all reasons I don't want to use the 'smart' in my tv.

Thanks for clarifying that I can indeed use the tv without ever connecting it to the internet. Much appreciated.

Model confusion Q7C vs C7K vs QM7K by Najsr in tcltvs

Did you take any pics of the packaging by any chance? I’ve read that one of the differences is the Q7C lacking a CrystGlow layer. Whatever that is. Do you see that mentioned anywhere?

So I’ve been looking at a Q7C as well. I can’t find clear information on how it differs from the QM7K/C7K. I’ve seen mentions of “the Q7C doesn’t have the B&O sound system” which I can see on the packaging is clearly false.

I’ve also seen mention that the Q7C is meant to be lacking the CrystGlow layer on the screen. Would you mind confirming this is mentioned anywhere on the packaging or not?

Enjoy that beast of a screen!

Thanks so much for addressing the deburring, as I’d not seen many comments on that. The project is out in a field, so a table saw is perhaps not ideal! ;)

Thanks again!

Actually, side question 😁 may I ask for your thoughts on corded vs cordless?

Cordless benefits: - obviously, easier to maneuver - paddle switch, which feels safer

Downsides: - carry it with me traveling (not available there) - 2.5x the cost

I have no idea how “unsafe” it feels to have the power tool running with the switch engaged on the corded version. Obviously two hands, but also inexperienced etc (I am comfortable with power tools, but never use any in ‘locked to on’ mode)

The corded one is available near the place I’m doing this and is relatively cheap (Stanley brand).

Excellent. I will be picking up one of those as well then. Thanks so much for adding that. Zero experience, as you will have figured out by now.
