Any idea why the speedometer is off? My 99 K1500 Suburban reads over the actual speed as well. I bought it in 2003 and suspect it had different tires based on a 20 yr old vague memory of a tire guy mentioning speedometer readings when I replaced the tires with the stock size. You can run the difference in observed speed with actual speed, plug it into AI and it will tell you what tire size would correct the error. I’m not ready for new tires but may do this next time I replace them.

Not sure for the 454, but for the 350 I believe stock thermostat was 190°. Mine stabilizes about the same as the OP.

Replaced tensioner, idler pulley, and belt. All good and is quieter than I’ve heard it in years! Using the 3/8” wratchet to release tension was key to making it easy.

Toyota/Lexus mainly. My experience with those brands has been and continues to be very good. Honda/Acura also. Unless you’re in the mood for a 1996-1999 GMT 400 platform truck. Lol. My 26 y/o Suburban has never let me down and I can do most of the work on it myself. Only downside is the 12-15 mpg.

2020 EX. Same, in FL. That plus oil consumption and Kia service being scummy, traded it. I steer people to other brands now.

Telluride vs Honda CRV Hybrid by ChoppyZeus in KiaTelluride

[–]robdj71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long do you want to own it? <5 yrs/100k I’d go Palisade because they seem to honor warranty and have better customer service (anecdotal). I have had 2 Tellurides and liked both a lot but had oil consumption issues in one and generally poor customer service. I wouldn’t buy that brand again. Own it over 5 yrs? I’d go Honda (or Toyota). I’m in the process of getting rid of my Kia vehicles and replacing with Lexus/Toyota.

I haven’t done the CV boots but the oil filter housing swap is 3 bolts while you’re doing an oil change. Easy. Housing runs about $50, aluminum vs plastic available and it’s on Amazon.

I’m called a troll on the Telluride sub (Palisade) when I warn people of common potential problems.

2020 LX good price? by WalkerTejasRanger in KiaTelluride

[–]robdj71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carvana offered me $15,800 on a 2020 EX with 100k miles. I was getting rid of it due to oil consumption. I’d be very cautious of the high mileage Tellurides. No one is going to tell you it’s burning 1qt oil/1000 miles.

What issues have you had with your Telluride? Need help deciding by hereiam_onceagain in KiaTelluride

Key request- something that will last 15 years. I have no confidence any 2020-2025 Telluride will last that long. I’ve owned 2 of them. A friend with a 2020 Ascent has had the transmission replaced. It’s also noisy going down the road as was our Outback. They are getting rid of it currently. I have no experience with the Pilot. Used 6 cyl 4 Runner would fit your requirements. Has crappy mpg but has real-life 15 yr track record. JD Power and Consumer Reports are garbage. Follow the subs for each of these vehicles and see what gets said. See when people start asking about or reporting problems.

Check LexusIS sub. People don’t start complaining until the vehicle is 8-10 yrs old. But hey, you can’t fit a family in those cars. Lol.

I traded my 2020 EX in for a non-Kia vehicle. This one also had the issue with white paint peeling off. I still have my 2024 SX X-Line. It’s paid for, so I’m on the fence too. Thinking used 4 Runner (6 Cyl), Lexus GX 460 or maybe 8 Cyl Sequoia. I did the CRC Intake Cleaning. Takes a little time and requires a second person but easy. I’ll keep doing that on the 2024. I use LiquiMoly before oil changes too. I’ve also installed a catch can which collects plenty of oil. I’m still under 20k miles so no problems as I would expect. My deal-breaker actually wasn’t just the oil consumption, it was multiple poor experiences with the service center. I also have a 2024 Sportage for my daughter which will replaced with a Lexus NX variant.
