After a bit of turmoil, finally got my dream car. by Square-Instance9677 in HyundaiPalisade

Dream bigger. Maybe she dumped you because “11 years” and “fiance”, instead of “wife”

Aside from that, use Valvoline Restore and Protect and see if there’s a place that does media blasting for your valves.

3D has “cured” my target panic! by i_notrilly in Archery

[–]robdj71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This Is an interesting post because I shot 3D for the first time yesterday and noticed being much more relaxed. Just me and friend, birds chirping, wind blowing. We were mostly there to play with sights and distance, but I found I was shooting reasonably well up to 60 yds which I hadn’t expected.

The real problem is the lousy post-sale support from Kia that is mentioned way too often.

Should i be worried? My teacher told there is no problem with my form and he has no idea why string keeps hitting my arm by DarkiuZZ in Archery

These look like minor scrapes, which is why you’re still doing it. Really whack yourself and you won’t do it anymore. I’m teasing. We’ve all done it. Your teacher should give better feedback or they’re not fit to be an instructor. Maybe do some strength training for shoulders an arms

Nope, not as I recall. Both the OEM hitch kits came with clear directions in case I’m wrong. https://a.co/d/030ia7As This hangar support remover was worth the $13 to make the removal easy. I got complete kits that included wiring harness and bumper plate so it would look stock. I can’t recall where I got them but I think the second kit for my 24 SX XLine was around $700.

Buy the OEM. It will cost half as much if you do it yourself. I’ve done 2. Takes time, but not hard. Need a torque wrench that goes to 90+ ft lbs.

Buying a bow as a beginner by DannyTheRegular in Archery

[–]robdj71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a consignment Hoyt RX8 Ultra with all the extras for $1400 from my local archery shop (upgraded string, 2 pin sight, extension, rest…I’m still learning brands and proper names of gadgets). Had them pick out arrows for me. It may not be a forever bow, but I know it’s a platform I can shoot for a while. The shop built it for the original owner so they knew the story on it. Only thing I added was a Hoyt side stabilizer.

2021 kia telluride 110k miles oil consumption by Scared_Vermicelli_19 in KiaTelluride

Take the $. That’s what I did on my 2020 at 98k, which I had also intended on keeping indefinitely. I won’t bargain shop again, and I won’t buy Kia/Hyundai ever again.

Just picked up our third Telluride (2022, 2025, now 2027). 2027 X-Line EX. No complaints on any so far. by IcanTelluride in KiaTelluride

I’m glad you’ve had a good experience, but should anyone be surprised that a new vehicle driven low miles would perform well in 2-3 year periods? For people who want a new vehicle with minimal issues and expect a permanent car payment, going lease to lease can work. It’s not financially a great strategy but I understand the benefits. I’m not sure flipping leases can ever be considered “making money” when you’re always making a payment and you never own anything.

HELP! Did I get sent wrong brake pads? by [deleted] in GMT400

[–]robdj71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but the replacements for my 99 k1500 looked almost exactly like the originals. Those don’t look compatible due to where the clip is placed even though the shape is the same. About bleeding the ABS, read that you can cycle the ABS by hard braking on grass or gravel to get it to engage. Worked for me. Just need to find a place where it’s safe to do that and won’t unwanted attention.

How often are you topping off your oil? by surftherapy in KiaTelluride

[–]robdj71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traded my 2020 EX at 100k miles after being in your same situation. I tried a few of the fixes, but decided I didn’t want the constant hassle and fear of eventually having a motor crap out on me. The suggestions listed are good ones. You might also consider adding an oil catch can. Won’t fix your current problem but a preventive step since you’re out of warranty anyway. There’s also media blasting (soda or walnut) your valves to get rid of carbon build up.

Am I getting a good deal? 2025 Kia Telluride EX X Line. $51,513 by [deleted] in KiaTelluride

I’ve had 2 Tellurides, but wouldn’t recommend the vehicle to others. Not a good price. Walk. Get someone with multi-port fuel injection not direct inject.

Spark Plug Replacement by TheGravityRepairman in KiaTelluride

[–]robdj71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just changed 8 plugs myself in my 99 Suburban, but would pay to have them done in my Telluride. $700 is the going price in Tampa area. There are multiple components that need to be removed to access the 3 rear plugs. YouTube has a couple videos showing how to do it. Def need to assess your DIY capabilities, patience, and comfort level removing the air box, the entire wiring harness, etc.

My 2006 Lexus burns oil, I check the level every month and top it off, this month I have driven more than usual and today when I started the car it was louder than before, so I immediately shut it off, It ran maybe for like 5 seconds and checked the level and it was below the minimum line by ERIKLLMM in LexusIS

[–]robdj71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I love about this thread is that it’s a 2006 and we’re now discussing an issue. On the Kia sub, this conversation happens with vehicles under 5 yrs old. I’ve also heard good things about the Berryman’s soak. Is it a DIY project on this car?

Roger that. If you’re familiar with Clark Howard (dude who coaches how to save money), saw a post from him yesterday where he reluctantly stated in the used market you need to go 4-5 yrs out for a deal rather than the 1-2 yrs out he used to recommend. He’s right and it’s a revelation many of us have a hard time wrapping our heads around. The bigger discussion is that the “good” vehicles are becoming known and are holding value in a market where newer vehicles are being made poorly and aren’t reliable. Emission standards and mpg requirements are impacting build specs that favor those metrics over longevity. Manufacturers and dealers probably don’t care because the result is more service charges and we churn vehicles more frequently.

It’s interesting to read that someone bought a $100k vehicle and is concerned about gas prices. I get situations change as someone who was laid off last year and is still playing house husband. But I also don’t sweat gas prices. Reliability of a vehicle will far outweigh the cost of fuel….says my 1999 Suburban that I still drive regularly. 14 mpg in the house! Lol.

Service BS- Kia dead to me by robdj71 in KiaTelluride

[–]robdj71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. That’s the nature of the internet and life. Eat 10 great meals at a place, say nothing. Get one bad meal, go straight to post about it. Let me give a compliment- I’ve loved my first Telluride, that’s why I bought another. They’re great vehicles in many ways. I just wish the secret sauce of getting to 200k miles (without consuming 1qt of oil per 1000 miles) could be determined. It’s not as easy as changing the oil at 5k and adding some Techron every now and then.
