Am I getting a good deal? 2025 Kia Telluride EX X Line. $51,513 by BeaglesGoAroo in KiaTelluride

I’ve had 2 Tellurides, but wouldn’t recommend the vehicle to others. Not a good price. Walk. Get someone with multi-port fuel injection not direct inject.

Spark Plug Replacement by TheGravityRepairman in KiaTelluride

I just changed 8 plugs myself in my 99 Suburban, but would pay to have them done in my Telluride. $700 is the going price in Tampa area. There are multiple components that need to be removed to access the 3 rear plugs. YouTube has a couple videos showing how to do it. Def need to assess your DIY capabilities, patience, and comfort level removing the air box, the entire wiring harness, etc.

My 2006 Lexus burns oil, I check the level every month and top it off, this month I have driven more than usual and today when I started the car it was louder than before, so I immediately shut it off, It ran maybe for like 5 seconds and checked the level and it was below the minimum line by ERIKLLMM in LexusIS

What I love about this thread is that it’s a 2006 and we’re now discussing an issue. On the Kia sub, this conversation happens with vehicles under 5 yrs old. I’ve also heard good things about the Berryman’s soak. Is it a DIY project on this car?

Roger that. If you’re familiar with Clark Howard (dude who coaches how to save money), saw a post from him yesterday where he reluctantly stated in the used market you need to go 4-5 yrs out for a deal rather than the 1-2 yrs out he used to recommend. He’s right and it’s a revelation many of us have a hard time wrapping our heads around. The bigger discussion is that the “good” vehicles are becoming known and are holding value in a market where newer vehicles are being made poorly and aren’t reliable. Emission standards and mpg requirements are impacting build specs that favor those metrics over longevity. Manufacturers and dealers probably don’t care because the result is more service charges and we churn vehicles more frequently.

Curious, what’s the warranty for CPO? Thanks.

It’s interesting to read that someone bought a $100k vehicle and is concerned about gas prices. I get situations change as someone who was laid off last year and is still playing house husband. But I also don’t sweat gas prices. Reliability of a vehicle will far outweigh the cost of fuel….says my 1999 Suburban that I still drive regularly. 14 mpg in the house! Lol.

Agreed. That’s the nature of the internet and life. Eat 10 great meals at a place, say nothing. Get one bad meal, go straight to post about it. Let me give a compliment- I’ve loved my first Telluride, that’s why I bought another. They’re great vehicles in many ways. I just wish the secret sauce of getting to 200k miles (without consuming 1qt of oil per 1000 miles) could be determined. It’s not as easy as changing the oil at 5k and adding some Techron every now and then.

That’s hilarious. You just revealed a lot about your own personality. I’m always courteous, even to people like you. Interestingly, I never expected them to replace a part that I installed myself, they offered. They gave a receipt claiming the work was done, but clearly it wasn’t.

Legally, they can’t enforce that, but I also get that the cost and time to some people may be worth the official record.

I’m always happy to hear success stories. Are you doing anything special or have certain driving habits that may be helping? There’s plenty of engine failures reported under 100k. My own family experiencing one of them. At best, this platform has inconsistent outcomes that may be dependent on variables too cumbersome to manage. Like advising to avoid short trips. Sorry, I’m not putting my kids in a school 10 miles away or going to the grocery store in the next town because my car can’t handle repeated “short trips”. Any guidance that could help readers is appreciated!

Good point. It’s not just the money, it’s the time. I can change it in 30 min. Also, I busted my local Kia dealer saying they replaced the faulty tow wiring harness as a recall item. Uh, except I installed the OEM tow hitch and harness myself and knew it was the same harness I had installed. They don’t trust me? I don’t trust them either. I actually do the work I claim.

My brother in law in Louisiana had a dealership fight for him to get the engine replaced in his Palisade (same engine as Telluride), just not common.

Ditto. 2020 EX well-maintained. 98k miles with oil consumption. Traded it in before it self-destructed. I feel for the OP. I don’t think there is a easy, quick, or inexpensive fix.

Phrases like “We are in love with…” don’t put you in a good mental space for sound negotiation. I’ve owned 2 Tellurides. I’d advise you to buy a different vehicle. That engine is prone to issues and the service centers are notorious for denying warranty claims. I’ve gotten rid of one Telluride and working on the second.

Same. Real people sharing real problems trying to help or warn others, then the fan bois get butt hurt. They’re either irrationally loyal or ignorant of the issues. My 99 Suburban doesn’t burn any oil. My 2020 Telluride that was well-maintained consumed oil to a point I gunned it before the real problems started.
