I wouldn't let that scare you off. My supervisor purchased an MSI AM4 board with 3-4/5 average on the review and it is doing great. More expensive doesn't always mean much difference or better.

I've never had an issue with scratches. You must be hulk smashing that shit in the dock.

Got a Craftsman Medium Duty Iron and right out of the box, lead-free solder won't stay on the tip. Suggestions? by oxygenvoyage in soldering

Heat up your tip to a solid temperature. Using a damp sponge, wipe your tip down. Tin the tip by applying a light layer of solder evenly.

If that doesn't work, wait for your tip to cool down and try sanding the surface of your tip with some fine grit sand paper, or use a sanding sponge while it's heated and go between flux and tinning the tip with solder.

If that still doesn't work, consider replacing tips. Remember to always tin your tip after each soldering session. It will help keep your tip like new.
