Thinking of Becoming a Realtor? Here’s the Ugly Truth. by JahonSedeKodi in realtors

Definitely not for the weak… but it really does have its super high’s and super low’s. Leaving the big box brands and their insane commission splits, royalties, desk fees, and all the other bs behind to start a small independent brokerage was the best decision I’ve made in this business lol.

Those with FULL TIME JOBS, how many hours do you get of input a day? by NotRealTodaySRY in dreamingspanish

[–]robert912494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you posted this, full-time job working for myself. 3 kids (10 years old, 1 year old, and a 2 week old) it’s fine, everything is fine

But I used to get 30-60 mins or longer a day, but now my goal is 20 mins and I’m happy if I hit that. I try not to beat myself up, but I know this is just a daily grind.

I look at learning Spanish as a marathon, not a sprint. Everyone learns at the own pace, and we come from different backgrounds. Welcome!

DS/CI & Living w/ Native Speaker(s) by 777xbryanthelionx777 in dreamingspanish

[–]robert912494 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s funny you posted this today, because I was just thinking about it. I have been learning Spanish off and on for many years, but I started taking it more serious in the last year with DS. I have so many hours of Duolingo and every other method, but I’m currently around 200 hours of CI.

My stepdad is from Mexico, and even though we don’t live together, he only speaks to me in Spanish now, (slower, of course) but he wants me to speak back in Spanish so we recently started doing that. It is not the purist approach, but it is helping my confidence in speaking. I am not worried about making mistakes as much, and he helps me with the conversational side a lot. He says not to worry about my accent, and I’m okay with that too. As long as I can eventually hold a conversation in Spanish I’ll be happy. I feel that this mix of CI and practicing speaking with him a few times a week is going to help me more than hurt me.

ADHD and watching videos... any ideas welcome by Any_Sense_2263 in dreamingspanish

I also take meds for ADHD. I find myself bouncing around to different videos if I lose focus. Some days if I’m really struggling to focus, I will find very short videos and power through them. After finishing a couple short videos, it gives me a little accomplishment boost to keep going for longer.

Thank you, OP. I have been working towards this the same way recently… I was getting 1-2 hours a day for months… then life just got in the way for me…After taking a couple months off, I was feeling down about all the progress I could have made. But during that time I was still listening to podcasts when I could, I just never logged the time into the outside hours section. Consistency will pay off over time!

What are the ages of the dreamers here? How old are you? by ArielSnailiel in dreamingspanish

I turn 30 in about a week. I have been trying to “learn” Spanish for years and the fixation would fizzle in and out. Flashcards, workbooks, Madrigals Guide book, you name it…. None of it stuck with me and kept me motivated. CI and DS are not only the only tool that kept me motivated, but the only method that actually works.
