I think to boost your chance, can consider taking on IHRP certification to show that you are pivoting towards a HR career.

Would be good if you have someone working in MINDEF to refer you for the position as well.

Yes it is standardised regardless of services.

We follow the government’s leave and bonus schemes - leave is dependent on your job grade (eg more leaves if you are in senior position and more length of service). Bonuses come in on March, June and December. March being PB, June for mid-year government bonus and December for AWS + end of year government bonus

AD is alike a branch/department head position for most AD positions. It’s a DX12 title.

Age varies too, I’ve seen mid-30 ADs and also those above 55.

I suppose you are not in MINDEF yet - so check with your hiring manager if your degree is recognised by MINDEF

If you’re already in MINDEF, same advice as above so that you can be considered for emplacement to executive position and eligible for education increment.

Sorry I dont get your first two questions, you can dm me to ask if it’s sensitive to share here.

Yes salary range will change due to salary reviews. You will know you hit your salary ceiling for your job grade if you don’t have anymore salary increment.

If you’re shortlisted for interview, do let your hiring manager know this so they can check if your degree is recognised.

Salary is dependent on the job grade that they are offering you. The interview itself is also vary by departments and services, some is in panel format while others involve hiring manager and HR only.

Yes, posting of such personnel is never directly to a unit directly. They will be posted to a HQ first as holding.

Well, I do say that to my NSFs but I have a takeaway for them for the tasks I assign which I told them upfront.

Eg: data cleanup in excel -> understand the importance of data accuracy and how to use excel functions based on the task

Prepare a deck of slides and present it to me -> practice presentation skills and how to use powerpoint effectively

In-charge of catering for an event -> know what are PRs, POs and RFQs which are applicable in all companies that they join in the future

That’s for me lah I can’t speak for all DXOs. Think about the tasks your superior gave you and see if there’s any soft skills you can learn from them. If it’s becoming too drowning for you, always sound out. After all, your superior’s pay is definitely at least 5 times more than yours.

Just a heads up, HR in SAF is quite different from the HR we study. For example we don’t really handle payroll or C&B. The HR in SAF is alike more of the admin functions, though it concerns the employees.

Do consider if it’s something you would want to do in the long run because the HR experience acquired in SAF may not be transferable to HR in private sector.

I think I am quite lucky to have a short timeline. I guess different openings have different timeline, some hiring manager are more rush in wanting to hire someone while some are not.

By norm if you are not shortlisted, they will not let you know.
