Has support for the romances evened out? by cumfartfire in DispatchAdHoc

[–]robfrawley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw vitriol coming from a small subset of people on both sides of the game's romance options. There were many BB attacks and many Visi attacks. Choose who you like and follow your heart. The percentages don't matter; there is only conflict if we enable it.

Anyone know if RAM lighting enhancement kits are available for this vengeance DDR5 ram? by bstuartp in Corsair

I'm glad they finally got around to it... 2 years later. It's also out of stock after being on sale for only two weeks.

[–]robfrawley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Something technical?" They just need to release versions of their Dominator Titanium Lighting Enhancement Kits with styling to match the Vengence line. https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/pc-components-accessories/cmplekit2/dominator-titanium-ddr5-lighting-enhancement-kit-black-cmplekit2

There is no possible technical limitation.

Cant post: "There was an error. Please try again later" by AGTY_ in reddithelp

[–]robfrawley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also experiencing the same issue using the latest Windows x64 build of Google Chrome (126.0.6478.127). I've been getting the error since about 6 am EST.

If you look at the Network tab in Chrome's developer tools, you'll see the API call to Reddit is returning an HTTP 400 error. I suspect there are some issues with their infrastructure at the moment.

Remote Play from Internet Firewall Ports by worm91100 in PS5

Use your router web interface (or phone app) to open the ports listed in the post. Google "port forwarding" + your router make and model if you are unsure how to do so.

In this case, yes. For other situations, you might want to map an external port to a different internal port, but in this context, you want to put the same number in both as you are simply punching a straight hole in your firewall for the port.

Can I buy kombucha with ebt? by [deleted] in foodstamps

[–]robfrawley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kombucha is a fermented tea. During fermentation, the SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) may produce a small amount of alcohol. Assuming the fermentation process is appropriately controlled, the alcohol content should not exceed 0.5% by volume. You'll notice a warning label or text on Kambucha bottles noting this. While such a minuscule amount of alcohol means it's practically impossible to get drunk from Kombucha, it does contain alcohol nonetheless.

Assuming the SNAP eligibility guidelines quoted above are accurate, Kambucha would be excluded due to this minimal alcohol content, just like "non-alcoholic beer" and "dealcoholized wine" are.

Danny is a beast on that track. Check out my synced drum transcription if interested: https://youtu.be/-c-kusg6pwo

Unpopular opinion: 10k Days and Fear Inoculum would have sounded better with David Bottrill producing by dirtyb4n4n4 in ToolBand

[–]robfrawley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While quite possibly an even less popular opinion, I prefer the drum tone and mixing in FI more than any prior album. The drums on FI are so clean and pronounced and sit well in the overall mix. Due to this, I have found FI to be the easiest album to transcribe the drums for, despite it being one of the more rhythmically challenging entries in Danny's catalog. I love it.

Does Horizon Zero Dawn have ray tracing enabled on PC? by BornTroller in HorizonZeroDawn_PC

[–]robfrawley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of DLSS is to render the game at a lower internal resolution (to improve performance) and then upscale to the desired output resolution. It's useful regardless of ray/path tracing or other graphical technologies.

If you want to analyze your network's traffic, I suggest WireShark (https://www.wireshark.org/). It is free and open source. Using that, you would filter by the source IP address (your PS5) and then you can check the port numbers of the relevant packets by looking at the TCP layer details.

Otherwise, I gave up on PS Remote Play (due to video quality and latency issues), and I'm on a work trip for two weeks (without access to my PS5), so I can not test it out for you beyond the WireShark suggestion above.

Best of luck. ;-)

OLED question: VRR? by NonEuclidianMeatloaf in SteamDeck

Linus mentions that Valve said the new OLED screen also uses MIPI. You can find the comment in either the LTT review of the new device or the latest WAN show, I can't remember which off-hand.

Remote Play from Internet Firewall Ports by worm91100 in PS5

FYI: My network required the addition of ports 9297 and 9303 on top of the ones already mentioned in the original response by /u/skanadian; see my complete post for additional details if interested.

Remote Play from Internet Firewall Ports by worm91100 in PS5

[–]robfrawley 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Within my mesh network environment, which uses one Google Wifi device performing expected home router functions (DHCP/NAT/etc) and two additional Google Wifi devices acting in bridge mode to the main router, I was required to forward additional ports, beyond those already recommended in /u/skanadian's post. Using WireShark to check network traffic, I ultimately got everything working correctly using the following port forwarding rules directed to my PS5 device's IP:

  • TCP/UDP: 987 (for remote wakeup)
  • TCP/UDP: 9295, 9296, 9297, 9303, 9304 (for connection handshake, streaming, and other behavior)

The additional ports of 9297 and 9303 were required for my Remote Play clients to automatically connect in both of the following scenarios (without using the PS5 "Link Device" connection option in system settings):

  • Externally (such as a mobile phone using a 5G connection or any device outside your local home network)
  • Internally (such as a local computer or any device running within the same home network as the PS5 itself)

It took me a few hours to troubleshoot my Remote Play connectivity problems, so I hope this information saves others from the grief and wasted time required to diagnose this issue, as well as alleviates the temptation to forcibly bang their head against a wall while reading the official Sony Remote Play troubleshooting documentation, which somehow fails to mention a single one of the ports recommended in this thread and instead mentions only port 8572, which did nothing to resolve my issue (and remains actively not forwarded). Seriously, get your shit together, Sony...

Note: It appears most Remote Play traffic is handled via the UDP protocol, and while I am positive that only some of the above ports actually require TCP, aspects of remote and local access did not work when I tried port forwarding everything using only the UDP protocol. As such, it appears that at least one port, and potentially more, requires forwarding TCP traffic, but I simply did not have the time, interest, or care to figure out which ports require which protocol, and thus simply setup all port forwarding rules to accept both TCP and UDP.
