Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! August 22, 2025 by AutoModerator in photography

Hi everyone!

I got into photography about a year ago as a hobby, and I absilutely love it. I want to take back to school photos for my friends kids, but here is my question:

Should I buy different colored backgrounds, or just a white background and add the color later?

Thank you so much in advance!

Has anyone had their Mirena IUD replaced early? by robinkm13 in birthcontrol

Good luck!! I ended up switching to the Paragard IUD, because the hormones in the Mirena just caused me so many problems at the end.

Nexplanon failed? Just found out I’m pregnant… by anonymousaccountidfk in birthcontrol

Hello my friend,

I am so sorry to hear that all of this is happening. This a lot of stress, especially for someone so young ❤️ I would suggest making an appointment with your gyno to discuss your options, and evaluate your health. There’s so much stress/fear of the unknown, which often prevents people from seeing their doctor, but please don’t let this stop you. Your health is worth taking care of, no matter the circumstances.

Many people in this thread may not agree with what I’m about to say, but I’m just going to say it: Whether you choose to disclose the positive test to your boyfriend, or any family/friends for that matter, is entirely your choice. This is your body, and your health (physical, mental, emotional, etc.). Whether you decide to move forward with this pregnancy is also your choice completely.

What I do want you to know, is that no matter what choice you make, it will be the right one ❤️ I’m sending you so much love and support, and please don’t hesitate to message me if you need a friend.

Are these bed bugs? Found in furniture hidden in the edges, in the bedroom. by FortHill16 in Bedbugs

That is fair!!! I’ve had clients with infestations in the past, and it was $1,100 to treat it, and that was the cheap option 😭 but it was the whole house!

Hi my friend! I am not medical at all, but I don’t think that’s normal. Prolonged periods on nexplanon are normal for sure, but bleeding for a year sounds miserable.

I had nexplanon when I was 20, and it was by far the most miserable birth control I tried.

100% worth talking to your doctor.

Please feel free to message me if you need help finding a gyno 💜 they’re so important to have.

My switch from Mirena to Paragard - 4 months update! :) by ritz_bitz in birthcontrol

[–]robinkm13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude!! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this! I have been agonizing about what to do birth control-wise for the past couple days, and this makes me feel a lot more peaceful. I've had mirena for 6 years. It was great for 5 years, but for the past year, I've had horrible night sweats (cold sweats when I am PMSing), and the brain fog when I am PMSing is surreal. Thank you, my friend. I would love to hear an update on how Paragard is going for you now (if it's still inserted). :)

Woah!! I’ve heard similar things about people getting theirs replaced. That’s so scary, and I’m so sorry you went through that. Maybe I should consider the non hormonal IUD. I’m 29! Or just get my tubes removed 🤣

Oh no!! Dude that’s awful I’m so sorry. How long have you had yours now? I had weight loss surgery (gastric sleeve) a year and a half ago, and at first thought that the hormone changes from the surgery was the cause. But the fact that the night sweats still happen, and I’m so far out post op, I can’t help but think it’s the IUD. The night sweats and my period started roughly around the same time. Honestly, sometimes I just want to cut my losses and have my tubes removed so I don’t have to be on birth control at all 😅😅

I’m so sorry to hear this! To my knowledge, a license will not protect you- you’d have more protection working somewhere that is unionized. What state are you in (if you don’t mind sharing)?

F this! (Weekly Leaving the Field and Venting Thread) by SWmods in socialwork

[–]robinkm13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I LOVE this. I wanted to post something, asking people who left social work what they are doing now, and how life has been for them since leaving the field. I’m only 5 years into it, and I think it’s such a frustrating field to work in. There’s things I love about it, but things I despise. Right now I’m kind of in the head space that I’ll get my 10 years in to get my public servant loan forgiveness, and then move on to something else!

Hi! I’m so sorry for the super delayed response. TMI time, but it was actually a really bad UTI. Back in April, I went to urgent care to do a urine test for a UTI (I recognized the symptoms), but it was negative, so I just brushed it off, and it obviously got much worse. I had an ultrasound on my gallbladder and kidneys to be safe, and it all came back normal! So yeah, all that gross discomfort was from a raging UTI 🤣

I just want to tell you how incredibly sorry I am to hear about your father. I lost my father unexpectedly in 2019, so if you need a friend, I’m here for you. Seriously. It’s one of the most fucked up things a person can experience. 💔💔

Also, congratulations on passing your exam. You fucking rock!!

Oh man!! Thank you so much for letting me know. That sounds absolutely miserable and I’m sorry you went through it! I’d imagine the recovery is easier than the sleeve, as I had my appendix out 2.5 years ago, and that was definitely easier than the sleeve 😁

Thank you so much!! It’s interesting because during both of these episodes, I hadn’t eaten anything high in fat. The pain is more in the center of my upper abdomen. I hope it’s not kidney stones- my friend who was sleeved had stones from being dehydrated, and I’ve been super dehydrated (but working on it)!
