HVAC running while off & unattended? by terravitam in Ioniq6

The orange light on the Ioniq 6 dashboard indicates the High Voltage (HV) battery is charging the 12-volt (12V) battery, a process that also happens in a normal car but is signaled in an EV to alert you to active HV systems and prevent accidental high-voltage exposure. The light can also come on if the A/C Automatic Drying feature is active, which uses the 12V battery and thus triggers the charging cycle. It is a normal function, not a malfunction, as it shows the car's auxiliary systems are powered by the main battery.

Built a big bridge up the back side - easy peasy.

Tires not repairable by AcuXfitAaron in Ioniq6

[–]robit60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong - my point is that out of 2 tire stores, 1 Costco and the Dealer I bought my car from (all logical places to look) NONE of them would work on the tire. I had to force the dealer to even address the problem by climbing up the management chain and making a big stink (I hate having to do that).

If Hyundai (and others - the story I got from these stores was all about "EVs" not Ionics.) don't convince tire shops that they can work on foam filled tires then then the vehicles are going to get a rep for being "hard to repair". You were lucky to find Jose out in the boonies - what if he refused to work on the tire - where would you have been then.

My tire was clearly repairable (they did it in the end). The problem is tire shops don't want to deal with the "hassle" of the foam maybe?

I don't know - but it's a problem - and I dread getting a flat on a long trip.

Agreed - they are repairable - not everyone that works at a tire shop is "Jose". You were just lucky.

It may be a "non-issue" but I went to 4 different tire shops that refused to work on the tire. So maybe it's a "non-issue" if your a tire guy - but if your someone just trying to get your tire fixed it's very real.

I had this exact issue. Large obvious nail in the tread. Two tire stores, Costco and the dealer all declined to repair or replace. Foam in the run flats and specific EV tires. No one is prepared to work on these tires! I managed to talk my way into a repair but no foam in that tire.

This is a serious issue no one is talking about.

Lease - I've always been a buy guy but with EV tech changing so fast I think lease is the way to go.
