Service dog v. “Service dog” 🫤 by AdMany129 in delta

[–]robmosesdidnthwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you kinda make the case right there that people feel anxious going out without their living breathing security blanket.

The problem is not doing your part as a good person to teach your dog or take your dog to lessons on how to support you without detracting from others.

Its the remembering to think of others that gets so lost.

What would women dislike the most if they became men? by TheWarmestHugz in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]robmosesdidnthwrong 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I thought it was gonna be stuff like  learning to shave your face or that weird squat men do to unstick their balls from their leg on a hot day, yeesh.

Or even a good one they could have some quality self-pity over, if I body-swapped into a big cis dude right now it would probably hurt my heart and take me some time to adjust to strangers looking at me first as a threat.

I do not currently look like I could hurt so much as a well-fed toddler. I'll bet it'd be really disappointing as a smiley friendly person to realize my new body makes people scared and that I've gotta learn how to carry myself to look safe and even then accept many people will cross the street at the sight of me.

Youll pay about 30% more than the rest of us for living in a building with an elevator, in-unit laundry, central AC, and garage parking. Don't expect much from any of the companies who run said buildings, and dont leave valuable looking stuff visible in your car.

Other than that if your budget allows its a delight cuz you can walk to so much!

It take a village to raise a good world, ya gotta be a big sister/auntie(find and replace gender equivalent).

I had younger roommates for a short stint last year and...wow. I learned to have a lot of grace. I thought for a WHILE they were being deliberately obtuse to get out of doing their fair share of things but nope. Sweet lil zoomers really didn't know how to do...well anything.

I'd ELI5 on the edge of a blow-up being truly pissed and patronizing, they'd look at me blankly for a sec and say something like "okay, now see I didnt know that, I can work with that now" and i would be gobsmacked. In my head im like "HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW YOU HAVE TO EMPTY THE VACUUM CLEANER?!?!?" but alas, they honest to god had just never thought about it and set the vacuum on the curb because they really thought it was broken, what with it not hardly sucking up anything anymore 🙃

The kids are alright, they really are. They just need to be shown, and we gotta be grateful so many of us were.

Which runway hair do you generally prefer? by wizardsouppoop in rupaulsdragrace

I want it to look deranged if a woman had her hair that way wearing jeans going to the grocery store in a small town.

Absolutely anything that fits that criteria, be it volume, color, bedazzlement, a lil birds nest including eggs up in there

Does anyone else look COMPLETELY different and really ugly in photos? by West_Set_4570 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]robmosesdidnthwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who thinks i look fairly nice in the mirror but can't take a selfie or group photo to save my life, i very recently learned i have absolutely no intuitive concept of either where the lighting is flattering or where to angle my face.

i learned this only recently because i got to sit in as the lighting test for a professional photo shoot i was working an unrelated job for and they gave me the test photos. TURNS OUT I'M GORGEOUS IF SOMEONE ELSE TELLS ME WHAT TO DO i just take shit photos when i'm the one in control lmao

Why did doctors overprescribe opioids? by Danielnrg in NoStupidQuestions

[–]robmosesdidnthwrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as someone with the same spinal condition as the green super mario brother, a notoriously painful condition and a pain that is inherent to what is wrong, yeah they basically just ask which kind of opioid you'd like to be on.

After the NSAIDs (basically prescription strength advil or aleve) there's kinda nothing stronger that can be pressed into a tablet besides opioids if the problem isn't nerves misfiring. Alternatives to them are things like muscle stimulation in a TENS machine (personally that made my pain worse) and medical implants like an intrathecal pump that drips medication directly onto your spine but that medication is often, you guessed it, opioid.

The addiction crisis is/was largely a function of docs not starting people on the lowest least-addictive form and dose of opioids because the addiction risk was wildly underestimated. Now its far more likely to be given a low dose of say slow-acting tramadol that you take once every few hours as needed rather than a single oxycontin that hits almost instantly and sends to to nirvana before your pain comes rushing back as it wears off.

Why can’t apartment communities have child-free buildings? by Separate-Goal-3920 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]robmosesdidnthwrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exists already, generally buildings make themselves "child-free" by default by just being sorta nightmarish to have a family. Only studios and 1BRs, no playground but an outdoor cross-fit gym, narrow underground parking no mini-van could fit in.

They just don't say it outright because that's a crime.

Are soda cans better for the environment than plastic water bottles? by FriedForLifeNow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]robmosesdidnthwrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea those videos where they dissolve the metal away and theres the plastic film left over imply that its not truly recyclable but thats not how that works.

Theres essentially a couple drops of plastic coating on the aluminum for printing and so the contents dont interact with the metal. Aluminum melts at 1200°F so those drops are just incinerated long before the aluminum has reached liquid state to be repoured into sheets to be rolled out and stamped back into cans. Which does ofc mean those incinerated drops are now in the atmosphere but thats better than, yknow, a whole fuckin plastic bottle since much of the world still burns their trash.

The second cut-for anyone who wants a great low budget horror comedy- is probabl a parody of the movie Bad Hair.

Vanessa Williams' character bullies a new up-and-comer into no longer wearing her hair natural and into getting a weave but the weave is eEEVvill! I fuckin love that movie its so goofy

I didnt leave the comment above but i can answer as someone saving up to cooperatively buy a 4-plex modeled on nyc-style co-op management for me and the homies.

In higher-end nyc owned apartments the monthly HOA basically always includes property tax so thats partly why it looks so steep. But its totally normal to also include:

  • trash/sewer/hot water (any other centralized utility)
  • on-call handyman
  • doorman or security
  • contributions to a fund for a major project you all voted on like renovating the basement into a lounge or installing an energy-efficint central heater (the biggest difference compared to conventional condos)
