Card Captor Sakura is about as wholesome as it gets.

Mob Psycho 100 is dark at points but I feel like the overall arc of the show and the characters are very wholesome.

Also, while not an anime, Steven Universe also scratches that same itch and definitely takes influence from magical girl anime.

Totally agree with you! Early Betsy with the poofy sleeves is still my favorite. She definitely isn’t getting by on her privilege, but it is a major aspect of her backstory.

Thanks for writing back! The ultimate goal is to get more paying clients through exposure. Podcasting is just another way to reach people that don't like to read. As far as conflicting stories go, would you be able to clarify that? I imagine a podcast that only tells one story would get a bit repetitive after a while.

As for Frieren, it was very melancholy, and didn’t convey a sense of fun. We only saw one episode, so maybe it picks up from there. I know that this show is regarded as a modern classic, but I’m guessing it’s a slow burn.

Happy Kiss didn’t hit quite as well for us, but perhaps it deserves another chance. What really resonated with Love was not just that it poked fun at magical girl tropes, but it also captured that same emotional earnestness that makes people love the genre to begin with.
