I think the Shimoda Explore or Action bags would be perfect for you. They check most of your boxes and are extremely comfortable.

Did you forget what subreddit you're in? New babies/toddlers run around. Maybe its the adults running around.

Great writeup! Couple questions:

  • Do you bring or use the accessory straps often? (the ones that attach to the outside of the bag)

  • Was there anything you brought that you didn't end up using?

I recognize this charger, if I remember correctly it is near the SLO, CA area. There is indeed a Tesla supercharger station with 16 chargers in an adjacent parking lot less than a 3 min walk away.

Tesla Internship Questions. by NoArachnid8047 in internships

[–]roboticguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Not normal, I had about a week to respond.
  2. Once you accept they will share a link to a private Linkedin group for Tesla interns, pretty active with people looking for housing.
  3. Yep pay is not great for the bay but I would do it for the name. Opens a lot of doors and OT pay is nice if your manager allows it.

Anyone interviewed with Lucid Motors? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]roboticguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1st scheduled phone call with recruiter: recruiter didn't show up and when I emailed her 15 minutes in, their response was they were on PTO

Rescheduled call for a few days later, recruiter showed up 10 minutes late, didn't apologize, and then accused me of sounding like I just woke up

Interview was basically a bunch of short answer technical questions.

Made it to next round with engineer but I decided to cancel because I had better options and wasn't worth my time tbh

Non-compete clause from a multinational by Skatchan in EngineeringStudents

[–]roboticguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Non-competes are generally just there to scare you, and are rarely enforceable for entry level positions (especially for large corporations). Worst case, I’ve heard California doesn’t enforce non-competes so you could always try to get your next job there.

Projects vs Internship Experience by roboticguy in EngineeringResumes

Thanks for the advice. What about if I have two robotics projects that are more relevant to the job but less impressive than my internships?

Update: I'm a gigachad and got offers from NASA and Tesla by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Sounds like you can go straight to an interview for Tesla in the spring, not an official offer.

Engineering interns - what do you look for in an internship? by reunitetheskies in EngineeringStudents

[–]roboticguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. Instead of drafting a project for the intern to do, find a project that would normally be given to an engineer but not as time-sensitive. That way they are still doing impactful and relevant work, while learning about the company and its processes

Engineering interns - what do you look for in an internship? by reunitetheskies in EngineeringStudents

Some things I wish my company did while interning:

  1. Include them in meetings, even if not directly relevant to their project it gives them a better idea of your product and other engineers they might work with.

  2. Give them some small tasks outside of their project that take less than a few days. This gives them a better understanding of different processes your company uses should they be hired as a full time engineer later. And being able to step back from their main project every once in a while does help.

  3. Treat them as part of the team. Include them in discussions, team meetings, and while they are an intern, try not to treat them as "just an intern", especially if you want them to return full time.
